Any experience with Ralph Moyle Trucking? they are in Mattawan, MI, just west of K-Zoo. They pay on a percentage basis. Does this work out well compared to Mileage?
    thanks

About a 70 truck fleet. Primarily van haulers, both dry and refrigerated, but they also have some liquid tanker work that they do. Typically runs within about 400 miles of homebase, does quite a bit of work around the Chicago area. They were one of Meijer's in house fleets, but I think they lost that work to JB Hunt. Fleet is kind of a mix of trucks since they tend to buy them used in decent shape and run them. Maintenance is pretty good, they have their own shop. About 30% of the loads are driver unloads, using an electric pallet jack.

Not the highest paying folks around, but very forgiving people to work for. They have had drivers leave because the grass seemed greener elsewhere, and they take them back when it turns out not to be so. Not a group likely to fire you for a minor accident if it happens, just so long as you learn from your mistakes.

I don;t know if they take on beginners, but they would be worth checking into as a place to start. I looked at them prior to my present job, and though i didn;t end up there, I have never heard anything bad about them.

Minor problems with wheelchairs getting hung up in the grilles of their trucks, but other than that.....

I had an experience with them that made me question their management ethics. I was hired into their apprenticeship program. They give me training in order to get my CDL A, then I owe them one year of employment, fair enough. They wanted all apprentices to take the state test after 3 weeks of their training. I was still having trouble with 90 degree alley docks. They felt I was not learning fast enough so they booted me out of the program. At that point I still wanted my CDL A so dug into my pocket and pulled out $5,500 so I could attend West Michigan CDL (great outfit!). Four weeks later I passed my state test and got my license. I went to work for a flat bed outfit in Indiana and had over 40,000 miles in when her comes a summons from VanBuren county, Moyle is sueing me in small claims for expenses related to training I received prior to THEM letting me go. They want $2,800 plus expenses. Hmmmmmmmmm. I think this demonstrates some wrongheaded thinking in the front office.

Ive worked there 2 years. One as a tech and the second as a driver they have always taken care of me. They pay on time with only a mistake once in a while which they quickly fix when brought to their attention. You do your part and they do theirs. They take on and train new drivers all the time so e make it some don't.
