I really hope you make it. One of the biggest expenses is your fuel expense. Are you getting a good discount? Look around here for NASTC card. Lots of independents here use it. There are other options but around here that is the popular one. What kind of company are you working for that requires you have your own authority and insurance while they control your revenue? I hope you are paying a very small percentage.

Our ProMaster has been getting 20 mpg/ 8.5 km/l (diesel). At this time we don't have a discount card for fuel. I will look into that. My husband is an independent contractor for them. He's free to work elsewhere too. The company moves freight via air and road.

Just getting our feet wet in this right now. We were advised to create an LLC to protect our private assets and operate under a business name rather than as an individual.

Throwing this out there for others with more knowledge to chime in, but couldn't they use 123Loadboards or Truckloads apps and search for partial loads? I know folks in my company have done that with hotshots or even mini-floats, but it is more difficult to find freight than if you have a big truck and trailer.

Depending on your outbound rates and need for trucks at home base, you may frequently choose to deadhead home. There's nothing worse than wasting days on a low paying load, when you could be home sooner and get a high paying load.

    Diesel Dave Thanks this.

Yeah cargo van freight is spotty, sometimes it is better to find a local courier company and run with them, more consistent work.

All she asked was about good load boards for sprinter vans. All you said was far away from the initial question.
