Hi Mark, I have a 710 that will not go past the startup screen. a windows note pops up saying nav has encountered a serious problem and must shut down, then the progress bar will run to the end and start over continously. I docked it and ran diagnostics twice, both time it failed at file 430 of 437 and I forwarded those to Rand. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Ron

I would do a few things.

    1. Delete Cache folder.
    2. Update again.
    3. Run D/R.

If you are computer savvy I can tell you where the Cache folder is.

    Thanks,
    mark

    Dear Mark,
I'm trying to help my husband with his 710, When he turns it on, All you can see is virtual lines in sorta pink colors. I tried to "dock" it, and do a repair by pushing the diagnostics and repair, but its not lit up. It is on line. We have did the plug in for 12 hours unplugged for 3 hours. Didn't work. Because he loves the darn thing so much he went out and got the 720. I still want to fix the 710.( because we cant really afford the 720. We have it plugged into the house outlet with the 720's house charger. He cant be without a GPS, He said that it makes his job so very much easier. He has been an over the road driver for 30 years. (and he is like an old dog, he don't like change,) Is there anything you could tell me to do to get this thing going? Thank You, Yvonne

I work for a business that owns a Rand McNally TND 710. There unit will power on fine, but within minutes the LCD will start glitching. A couple minutes later, you will not be able to read letters on the screen, then the colors will change completely. That is all followed by complete shutdown of the LCD altogether. I turn off the unit and turn it back on, and the process starts all over again.

Call Rand Support. They are on CST. If under warranty they will repair/replace it.

    Thanks,
    Mark
