Did you use the Rand USB cable or another type? On some of the newer computers unless you use the Rand Cable the unit will not be seen by the computer. If you had a 7" unit the newer computer (4 years and up), the ports started power sharing. Thus the 7" draws more, but the Port would not provide the current needed. Usually leaving the unit on and connected then rebooting the laptop would then direct more current to the port. The mode also needed to be out of energy saving.
Did you try to connect the x40 to the Dock?
So the final question... do you still have any of the Rand units? If not then it is a moot point to bring up the prior issues if they cannot be resolved.

All this while people say, "truckers is ignant and caint work no 'puters".
Meanwhile we can't stop the desk jockeys from opening suspicious email attachments and bringing down the whole network. -
Use it like a map and zoom/pan the map around like you wand to see the final route to a destination and get an idea of the layout before you get there. Try and take a closer look at the interchange you would be using while going through a large city, especially someplace like St Louis Mo.
Turning off POI display helps, but not enough. They just need more 0xBEEF. -
If it is x40 they don't use the Dock. What Model do you have?
So again... this is an ELD-50 thread and nothing to do with the map screens. I wish you would put your post in the Support Thread and we can work the issue there. -

As far as a x10 or x20, the hardware was slower, but for its time the most current. So, you would have to scroll at a slower speed.
The X30 is the same, faster than the others, but still you cannot zip across screens.
The x40 I just flashed a unit, just like out of the box and it scrolls fine as I kept moving around the screen and zooming in by pinching the screen in/out.
No x23.
Again the X10 and X20 are no longer sold. They are over 7-8 years old. So a moot point to bring up older hardware and compare to today's standards.
So since I still don't know what model you have, I am not going to continue this banter back and forth dealing in what-if's.
Have a nice day. I tried to help, but got nothing from you to work with.

My first post in this thread was about how they only work well while sitting on the couch. They aren't up to the task at hand unless you can just sit around and wait for it to work. -
Dock - works fine - I asked if you were on .net 3.5 or greater - no answer
Dock - works fine - I asked if you tried in Safe Mode - If works then computer software issue.
DC App has nothing to do with the Dock.
2012 - older hardware - no sense comparing older hardware to current. The Map have a lot to "paint" in esp at zoomed in levels. I put my test units through a lot more software "stress" testing than having it a truck would.
All GPS no matter who the manufacture is approx. the same price point.
x40 - I asked if you did the GPS repair or file validation - no answer.
I don't sit on a couch. I work at my desk, along with testing units on the shelf for weeks on end 24 hours a day, plus constant testing in my car. Before you harp on the car thing, I have found issues in the software while in my car. I have it in truck mode, so all it knows it is going somewhere in a vehicle. I know a truck is a rougher ride.
So all in all, nothing really has been determined. You highlighted prior posts from other users on a past issue that was resolved. You compared the Dock to the ELD or DC App, nothing to compare.
I have a computer that acts up from time to time, is it the hardware or software. It took some time, but it was a software conflict. So, do I blame the entire line of Toshiba laptops and desktops to this? Nope.
Nothing is perfect in this world. I see class 8 trucks with recalls all the time. Does this make them all fall into one category? Nope.
So let's stick to the present for issues. Do you have a Rand Unit and do you wish my help?

I don't use programs to run stress testing. I put in variables that a person would not use to test the software.
So my computer locks up, should I compare to the ELD - 50? Again apples and oranges
So how do you know that the product you bought was not a returned item? I have seen instances of where someone would buy a new unit, then return it with their unit that was not working for some reason or another, thus getting a new unit and their money back.
GPS repair is not in the Dock. It is on the Android versions of the TND and Tablet. What is on the Dock is R/D. Now, if you do the R/D on the Dock on a model other than the x40, you should delete the hidden cache folder first, since those files might be corrupted. The computer downloads from the Server, then pushes to the TND. So, if downloading caused a corrupted file, you would be comparing a corrupted file against a corrupted file.
Airbags are still being recalled on cars, does that make the whole industry at fault and no one should buy a car now?
If you will look around, Rand is not the only one that has or had issues. So, let's not put the whole weigh of the ELD issue on Rand. Rand saw an issue and it was corrected. I get weekly updates to my computer and windows has been out since the early 80's.
What happened in the past is old news. It was fixed and it was a hard issue to find. So, let's move on. What you should be thinking about is how well a company responds to issues found on any electronic device. I see posts here daily. What I see and do helping customers goes directly to the Director level and above.
