I have been reading the older threads about this setup but wondering who is using it and how it is working.

Being we are a private carrier and only have 2 trucks we need to be compliant but really do not need all the features of most ELD setups. No need for tracking, being able to send messages or workflow or any of that needed.

We do need the ability for personal conveyance and editing of logs.
Also being able to email the logs in PDF for the office to save on file.

We pretty much run as owner ops so just the basic features to be compliant is all we need.

Any updated info on the ELD 50 or something else to better fit my needs please post away!

Definitely following, @EZ Money .... I'm in the same (almost exact!) boat as you are. All but one of our small 4 tractor fleet are old enough to stay on paper, but boss man is thinking about total compliance for all the trucks, just to be on the "safe side." (IDC either way, personally.)

Would love to hear the feedback on this thread; am following.

    Thanks, EZ..
    Tom.

BigRoad. Compliant, easy to setup and easy to use and cost effective.

The boss said I could pick out any unit I wanted as long as it is compliant...
Something that I can edit when needed and no monthly fee.....

    Looking in to Big Road....

Big Road does have a monthly fee after you buy the kit to plug into the dash.....Just the app is free now but will not be compliant come December..
Looking at VDO road log but not much detail on that too..

You won't be able to edit anything on the drive line after mandatory compliance goes into effect, but you probably already know that. Believe me, RoadDog is worth the current $15 a month I pay and it will be worth every penny of the extra $10 a month when & if the madate goes into effect.

Are Big Road and Road Dog one and the same??! I'm needing to look into this for my bossman soon, as well; following and learning along with EZ.

Not sure, but I don't think so. A quick cursory search on google will bear that out though ;-)
