I read somewhere that the Rand McNally ELD 50 will put you into "driving" once you exceed 20 MPH. Can anyone confirm that this is true? My yard is about a mile from the freeway on a small county road so I can easily crawl to the exit at 19 MPH. That would save me a little time every day.

Currently... BUT -The speed to go into driving can be configured. When ELD mandate kicks in it will be locked down to 5mph.

Is 5MPH the FMCSA rule or is that a speed you guys chose?

page 41, left column bottom continuing to middle column top.

The ELD will indicate the vehicle is in motion once the vehicle begins
moving at a set speed threshold of up to 5 miles per hour.

*****PLease note --- it says "OF UP TO"... so some manufactures may set to lower than 5mph...

I'm most curious if the ELD 50 can read engine codes. Might be a deal for that price for just that.

Update: It does not. And requires a subscription to even access the gauge readouts like RPM/Voltage/Boost.

I have an ELD 50 and a TND 80 pad Tha I use it with. After pairing to the app it does work pretty well but I also have some trouble with it.
The ELD 50 records my driving time as I go. When I attach the app to the device, it uploads the data and draws the log. Sometimes it picks up the location and sometimes not. When I try to edit the entry and reason, it tells me that this affects drive time and won't save the edits. I'm in the free trial period now, I'm hesitant to sign up for the paid service because it doesn't produce complete logs.
