Sounds like you are on an older mapset. Restrictions, Roads, POI's do change. Speed limits are tied to the mapset. Updating this will update the software only, not mapsets.

Speed limits are tied to the mapset. States change speed limits and once they are noted they are submitted for updates. Only in a mapset update.

I got the 720, been using for 6+ months. No problems at all yet. Most common problem is incorrect speed (there are lots of speed limits...probably the hardest to keep track of as they constantly change. The other issue, due to me not having it updated, is missing roads, but other than that it routes me right, hardly ever look at an Atlas cause it routes me where I want to go anyways.
