Hey Mark,
Sounds like Iron Ryder is having the same issue as i had mentioned to you about sometimes how unit even when on "fastest" won't always take you a route that is actually faster. I know its being worked on though and have complete confidence it will be fixed -
But, what I found interesting is when IronRydr passed the loop that it corrected itself. This leads me to believe that something is not right in the mapping database.
I have never seen Fastest move you off a freeway unless mapping data is skewed.
But, we will have an answer come Monday.
OH >> BTW,, it was posted before that NC US-70 BTWN Statesville and Salisbury was showing restricted past Cleveland,, their was a part of the road that still showed restricted in the map database. NC verified it is not so... so that has been corrected.
will be in next map update.
Thanks,
Mark -
I just ran into one of those, I went across 68 and onto 163 to get over to us95 to go up to Vegas from Kingman. The whole time the TND was telling me it was restricted. I called the Nevada Commercial Vehicle enforcement officers in Las Vegas and they said there was no restriction on that even while hauling hazmat. The signs even said it was the detour for us93.
-
There was an 'alltrucksprohibited' flag on a section of US-93, between
AZ-68 and Kingman, AZ. Rand will remove this attribute, which will allow
48' 96" to use AZ-68, AZ-163 to US-95.
AZ-68 is not an STAA highway, so 102" wide trailers will need to I-40 into California, and then US-95 north.
Hope this helps..
Thanks, Mark -
Mark
AZ-68 may not be an STAA road, but is not restricted to 48' or 96"
If heading west, it is posted and marked for trucks to use this route in place of going over the dam. -
Ran down through Mo to AR today, no problems. There's a few errors like a stretch on 50 in Mo that's not where it should be, newer road, and a few speed limit errors but they were all mirrored on both units.
There's another false restricted flag on 167 at Peasant Plains, AR. It only shows restricted for about 100 feet. I dunno who puts in these goofy and obviously wrong flags all over the place but navtech should have a talk with them in between bouts of solitaire or whatever they're doing at work.
My unit serial is A35T5B170D75. I'll be sure to get the logs off the unit before it loses them if it errors out again so we can pick through them.
Oh yeah, 3300 E. Race Ave in Searcy, AR is 0.3 mile east of where it's shown on the map. Error on both units. -
So would you recommend this unit?
-
I would not consider it a waste of money. It's far from perfect, but all of them are at this stage. It is helpful even with the errors, which are being slowly but surely eliminated.
As always, you still have to pay attention and drive your own truck. It will be a very long time before you can safely follow any of these units blindly. -
Being a non-STAA road in the database the TND is looking at this as a non-truck route.
Rand has seen the information posted here on AZ-68 and they have added it to their list of items to gather more in-depth info on.
The mapping database is due out in a few months, so with all this information being passed back to Rand, the database should be a lot better.
Keep the NavTeq stuff comming.
Thanks,
Mark
