Are you ever going to be able to save routes?

I have been researching Trucker GPS Units for a few weeks now. I bought my wife a TomTom 2505 for her car a month ago. So I took it out in the truck with me to NYC. Wow, I realized right then and there that a truck GPS was a MUST for city driving. Now, it has come down to 2. The TND 500 and the Garmin 465T. I actually looked at the Garmin for the first time today at the local Best Buy. Although it was a nice unit, I wasn't happy with the 4.3 screen and a couple of other things. I really didn't know about the TND 500 until this morning when I ran across it on the internet. I have been researching ever since. It is now 3:20 in the afternoon and the hunny do list is still sitting on the table....oh boy!!! Well, this forum has really be informative to me. Although I didn't read every page, I think I have read enough to know that Rand McNally is really making some effort to correct issues with their units. As stated a lot in here, "every GPS maker has issues", and I think what matters is who makes the most effort to correct them in a timely manner. I am going to purchase a TND 500 in the next 15 mintues. Thanks to all of your input, I'm not only sold on the unit, I am sold on the company.

Day 1: So far so good, other then the TND500 wanting to run route 30 from breezewood, PA to Chambersburg. Um, no thanks, 30 is restricted going east outside of Breezewood. Other then that, it found all my stops and keep me on good roads. Yes, I know my route and the roads and can run the route blinfolded, but the TND500 did very well.

dont be put off by the negatives on this forum,,have had mine for almost a year now,,,had a few issues and got them cleared up,,,there are going to be areas that the unit just does not want to work in,,,and once in a while its going to do some strange stuff,,i keep my paper map handy just in case, but for the most part i am thrilled with this tnd500 (c) have tried pc miler, and the 465t garmin,,,both work ok, but this one is soooooo trucking oriented once you get used to it you will wonder what you ever did without it,,,,especially when locating state scales, wal marts, truck stops you never knew exsited and a host of great features just for trucks,,,remember that on this forum tnd OWNERS are getting help and info on ,,,for the most part very location specific or very insignifigant problems,,,buy it,,download the updates, and you wont regret it,,,,,no i am not a part of the tnd company,,,i drive for jct and have had this unit hangin off my dash since march.

Yes It does. although when I entered a route from northern metro Detroit to Rochester NY it wanted to take my south through Ohio instead of through Ontario Canada. It wouldn't route me direct until I crossed the Bluewater bridge. I find a bit annoying but it does better than my old Garmin did.

    did you check in the

main screen\preferences\route settings\cross borders - make sure this is set to allow?

if no, it will not route you accross the border, unless your destination is in truly accross the border.

    Thanks,
    mark

I will have to ask on that, I think I remember it being added to the feature list, but am not sure.
