So I got a reply back from Mike at Rand, (Not sure if he is just a tech guy or white collar.) anyway I told him of all the problems and he said he was going to send an RMA number and will resend another unit. SO I get the email and the RMA is for my original NEW unit. SOooo I call back and ask for Mike (who is busy) and the tech that answers the phone wont correct the wrong serial # on the RMA return sheet and then he says " well you can send it in anyway but I dont know if we are going to send you another unit" sooooo I tell him I will hold for Mike (who is still busy), the tech comes back on and says he will probaly be awhile and so I leave him my name and number. I asked the tech what Mikes last name is so in the future I can ask for him by name instead of just Mike---- (you know -- I dont want to get the ole Mike who ? reply from the operator if I need to talk to him) sooo anyway the tech says he cant give that information out.?? WTH. Pretty funny that company policy states they cant give out last names to customers. The tech said just ask for Mike. SO i guess theres only 1 Mike in the whole Rand Mcnally Corp. still pretty dam funny----------------THE SAGA continues. Like dealing with a top secret contact

My experience is exactly opposite to what you have written above. I would keep purchasing Rand products just because they value their customers. I recommend you talking to their supervisor?

INSTALLING UPDATES (I received these instructions from Rand support. I think this will be very useful for many)
    1. Before proceeding to the next steps, make sure your TND is fully charged.
2.Uninstall existing TND dock software that you may have already installed on your PC.
    3.Reboot your PC.
4.Install a fresh copy of TND dock software from the following link: http://trucking.randmcnally.com/ctonline/assets/images/tridion/SetupTNDDock_tcm18-190812.exe . This will install Dock version 2.0.6 (download and install on PC without connecting your GPS to PC)
    5.Reboot your PC.
6.Make sure the GPS is completely turned off.
    7. Connect your GPS to PC with the provided USB cable.
    8.Now power on your GPS.
9.This should establish the connection between PC and the GPS in few seconds.
    10. Once your GPS is recognized by your computer you will see the TND Dock window. If RandMcNally TND dock software does not start automatically, Run this application manually from start menu or from right side of your PC task bar by selecting McNally icon.
    11. Select "Update InteliRoute TND". This time it will check available updates for your GPS.
12.Install available TND Device updates (download and install while your GPS is connected to your PC).

i have the tnd700 and love it. while it is not perfect, it won't find the ocassional address you can have it route you to the intersection. they are slow with their updates especially speed limits but downloading updates is free.one option i really like is it will find a walmart and you can find the doctor clinic anywher if needed. i've seen the 500 on sale for 450$ well worth the money for me:biggrin_25517:

I'm still noticing some things that require attention, I have the latest version:

    - After running for a while, moving around on the map is painfully slow. A reset really helps with this, but it's still not as fast as all the other GPS units I've used

    - Map detail is still lacking zoomed out

    - I've also noticed sometimes it is about 15 seconds behind of what I'm actually doing. No rhyme or reason I can pick up.

    - "low power" indicator screen still comes on too late. You have about 3 seconds to plug it back in before it shuts down.

    - Still no real via point, multi-stops etc.. Still only goes to the first drop. This is probably the biggest issue I have.

I wish Rand would stop focusing on new products and new features and fix these (and other) basic problems

    Found another mapping problem:

    - US75 on OK between I-40 and Okmulgee(IIRC) the unit said this was weight restricted and was trying to turn me down every small road(even a mobile home park!)

-Highway 41 north of vermilion, AB, it didn't want to send me over the bridge crossing the North Sask river. No weight indications.
