Dieselboss, RM, Amazon, Loves, Pilots, Flying J.

if you buy from any truck stop please be aware of the Store's return policy. You will fall under ther Truck stop policy.

Amazon - you will have to check their webpage.

RM offers 60 days, if you do not like return.

You will have to call Dieselboss, as I do not have his policy off the top of my head.

If you buy a unit from Dieselboss he will assist you with your questions, if you buy from anywhere else E-Mail me at rmleadbetatester@gmail.com

Thanks and good luck with your new units...

RM is keeping Dieselboss aware of new production updates as them come out.

I've compiled a long list of bugs and deficiencies but as there have been a few updates and my second unit (figured it couldn't really be *that* bad so exchanged the first as defective) I'll withold it until I can update.

However, here's my problem. The box, documentation and RM website staes that you need a 'PC' to update. I have a PC. The problem is they mention nowhere the required operating system. Apperently it's Windows. I have Mac OS X.

So here's my dilema. How do *I* update? -- and plz no I don't know anybody else I can beg to use their winblows peecee. Hate Windows and frankly attribute many of the TND's issues to it's Windows underpinings. Both units I've have 2009.9.1372.1949 installed which i presume is the initial release and is riddled with so many bugs, crashes, false reporting and quirky/nonfunctional options it's not even funny.

I feel that while this product is new and chock full of problems RM is on the right track and working to make it the best truck GPS out there. But if I'm stuck with the obviously-not-well-tested initial software release the unit is nearly unuseable. Not $500 well spent by any measure.

Why not a web update like Garmin has? Or at least support the top two OSs.

I've 30 days to take it back for exchange on another unit. The PC Miller seems the next best bet but I'd rather keep the RM. Without being able to update, however, I'm left with no choice.

Any word on if/when a Mac version will be released?

Unless you can get to a PC and update via TND Dock.. ??

Na as I said I've no access to a *Windows* PC lol that I can install software on. Not going to Atlanta anytime soon but thanks.

In Youngstown, OH at the moment on my way 80W-84W to Portland, OR. Know of any places along that route at which I may get updated?

I always check my routing and have a good idea where I'm going before departing, as any good driver does, and primarily use the GPS to keep me on track so I don't miss an exit and to give me a general idea how much further I've to go with eta. Not happening with this release lol.

The biggest problems I have with this release are that it continually crashes, restarts, or simply freezes (stability) and the 40 mi bug (says exit 9 is 40 miles away when it's actually 300+, tells me to exit at the end of 40 mi (usually nothing there to even exit on) then resets to 40 and repeats until within 40 -- and 60% of the time it's not even the next step I need to take: 84E from the 86 split in Idaho, for example, on my way to Layton, UT it did the 40mi thing all the way there but skipped the important exchange to 15...just skipped right to the exit. Remaining distance and eta are affected respectively, increasing by 40 mi/~40min every occurance (navigation). The rest I can deal with while RM fixes them.

I'll send you my report in a couple of days as I'm still compiling it. Hopefully you will identify a good number of issues that have already been rectified.

[EDIT: It wouldn't even let me post with the *word* e-mail (minus the hyphen). Mods/Admins: bug]

email me so we can get you on the right version..

I am terribly sorry about this.

I am not a Mac user,, know very little about it..

if I send you a zipped file (winzip) could you unzip and be able to move files to the TND 500 via USB?

or I could send you several unzipped files and move to TND 500 via USB

I bought the first unit at the Pilot in Ontario, OR a couple of weeks ago...didn't even have them on display yet. I exchanged it days later at the Pilot in Council Bluffs, IA on my way to MA. Both had this version on them. Not sure how RM distribution is set up but I think those two are far enough apart to indicate the problem is fairly widespread. Dunno if that helps ya out...

    E-mail on the way...

    no email yet...

suggest to RM that if you are unable to get the files you need moved over via the mac...

just west of Chicago on I80 is a TA... I suggested someone met you there and just exchange the unit with an updated unit,,, no down time updating.. and you can keep rolling...

If I send you the files... can you move via the mac to the TND 500?

    thanks,
    Mark
