Yes, the left and right scrolling was very big. I haven't looked at it since Thursday night though.

    Updated unit last night.

    Today, nothing but problems.

Try to get one route to calculate. Unit locked up several times. Twice had the "no legal truck route" screen

One time, After using the reset and power cycling the unit, I had it calculate the same route I had been trying to get.

I went into the pilot, Got a snack, cup of coffee, had my paper work scanned and walked back out to the truck. Yep, still trying to calculate the route. Locked up again.

The "navi.exe" error is back. Had that one twice today. One when trying to get a POI. the other time just trying to get a primary route calculation.

When I did finally get a stable route on the system, as soon as I hit the off ramp to fuel, got the "no routing info" screen.

Here is something else I forgot to point out.

On a primary route calculation, the unit will run it's program, then for a few seconds the main screen will be up, then it will start a recalculation. Nothing changed, truck sitting, not moving. It may do this two or three times. It will usually lock up after that.

It will also do this on a recalculate when the truck is moving.

Thanks for the input back. What I would like you to do is turn your TND on, connect to your laptop, once you see a drive letter assigned to the TND, look for the dirve with Navi and RM on it. Copy both these plus root files to your laptop, zip them up and if you use www.yousendit.com you can send your files to rmleadbetatester at gmail. This will upload to a server and I can download and put your files on my test unit and then see what the software is doing.

Also, on your c:\logs, I would need you to attach the files to an E-mail and send to me also. You would have to find the little snowflake in your bottom right of the screen, right click and then exit TND Dock.

How do you do your updates? Aircard? across cell?

    Thanks,
    Mark

Also, if you could put the serial number on the back of the unit in the E-Mail also? When you upload to the TND Dock it attaches your serial number to the upload. This way RM can filter out your uploads to them.

    Thanks,
    Mark

    (7. Main map screen) I really like this feature. I have only really used this GPS in two states since I purchased it. Ohio and MI. On two lane roads the stated speed limit is fairly accurate but on the freeway in both states it is a mess. Ohio changed speed limits for trucks this summer so I can understand the incorrect data but MI speed limit for trucks on the freeway has been 60 for some time. I am not so concerned about the speed limit on the GPS displaying incorrectly as I am the arrival times not calculating correctly based on the incorrect speed. Have reported both to RM.

    (10. RM asks you to enter city first.) Ok, please find the intersection of 224 and 511 in Ohio. Do you know what city it is in? If not what do you do? I had to find it by searching the map. I agree, you need to be able to search by state first. Very annoying not being able to do a search this way.

    (11. Actual Road names) Yes, this would be great. I was using the GPS to drive around my home town ( have lived hear 42 years) and did not know that a state rt I travel all the time actually had a name. You will not see it on any sign. Point being that a truck driver traveling through this area would be total confused. They would not be confused it it was called state rt 57 however as that is also how it is posted. When looking at the RM atlas they do not go by names but rather the state route, why should the gps be any different?

    (12. Shortest routing ) Since changing my settings as you had suggested things did work much better. I still saw some major miscalculations in two points. One on rt 30 in ohio and the other at the intersection of 6 and 131 in MI. I simply think the map data is wrong in both cases. I have reported both to RM and will wait and see how they pan out in the next version.

Do I like this GPS .....YES. Do I think there are things that need to be fixed and or improved...YES. There is a reason that the car GPS has been on the market for years and not one made specifically for trucks. What I especially like is the fact the RM is using our input. Just keep in mind me being critical is not a slam but my opinion on how to improve something.

    Thanks,

    Steve

Steve, as the freeway information is inputted to RM and verified the mapping data is corrected. The only problem being the mapping data is on the External SD card and is not send via the TND Dock during updates. The mapping data is forecasted right now to be updated to the users in the 1st qtr of 2010.

Steve, If you can send me your E-mail and the file NaviInfo on the root of the internal SD card and the approx date, I can check on your input to RM.

Also on your unit under the Navi\logs folder are .txt files. If you would include them in your E-Mail. They are self building files that the unit keeps on itself.

    Thanks,
    Mark

Ok everyone I just updated the TND and we now have a qwerty keyboard, can delete state miles by day, plus lots of other inprovements. Be sure to read all they have fixed at the end of the update. I like a few others was somewhat disapointed in the unit but as they told us our feedback will be looked at and this will eventually be a very good unit. Thanks to Rm and the betatesters.

Yup. Just ran it and now it is version 1443.

    - In addition to what you said above I notice you can also click on any road in the turn-by-turn directions list and detour that segment. It also jumps to that particular road segment map when you touch it the directions list.

    - Also you can plan a trip from some place other than where you are sitting by putting in an address and then press "set origin."

    - You can choose to have it display the truck speed limits, truck and car limits, or none at all on the nav screen now.

    - Looks like a lot of bug fixes too.

Kudos to Rand on such an extensive update so quickly.

I see via a few posts that Rand QA released ver 1443...

Since this is a major change I will give an example of set origin.

    Set origin.

Choose destination/new location/city center... find Albany, OR.

once you find Albany, OR... do not begin route...instead at the bottom of the screen in the middle,, press set origin.

Next screen hit the back button.

Your screen should now show you in the middle of Albany, OR.

You can do POI's searches "my truck" and it will show all truck stops around your truck in "Albany, OR"...

    or

you can go to the main menu/choose destination/new location/city center/.... type in Chicago, IL..

now you can hit the begin route button.

your unit is now routed from Albany, OR to Chicago, IL. the turn by turn list will show you your route...

To set your unit back to its physical location... you will see a button (bottom right) "return to GPS location". press this and your route will be canceled and your truck in now showing in its physcial location.

    Thanks,
    Mark

If you are in a route... and you turn your unit off... now RM has allowed you to continue your route..

    for example..

you are in a route.. you turn your unit off... later you turn it on..

    on the legal page..

    you should see now ..

accept and continue route accept tutorial

if you press "accept and continue route" the unit will go directly to the map page and show you in your route..

if you press "accept" you will be taken to the main screen, not in route.

If you are not in a route when you turn your unit off/on ..the unit will only come up

    accept tutorial

    Thanks,
    Mark
