It might be looking like a small issue so far. If your license shows expired E-Mail me with the serial number on the back and I will send you a valid license.

I am trying to get ahold of RM and see if their is something that went wrong when the software was burned onto the units.
I am sorry about this, but it seems like between 12/31 and 1/1 something happened. I will post more later as i find out.

Can you give me the entire serial number off the back of the TND?
BTW,,, you will need to connect and update your software. The current version is 1443.

If you are on the road and cannot get to a computer and are not headed on Hometime, I would suggest you return the TND and exchange it. Be sure to show the manager the issue and power the new one up before you leave the store to make sure that license does not show expired.
If you can, can you give me the exact message that pops up.

Ok, let me fire it up... There is a window that pops up and covers the entire screen. On the title bar of the window it says: "Map database error. Please turn the unit off and on. If this..." the title bar is not wide enough for the title I guess. In the body of the window then it says this: "The license for the selected map database is invalid or has expired.". There is a button on the bottom of the window that says "close", but it doesn't work. Thanks for your prompt help. I may be able to swing by the house this weekend and update my gps. Do you think it will resolve my issue?

I am contacting Rand as we speak. They might be able to put a correct license file on the server so when you update you will get a correct license, or I can send you a license.

It sounds sorta like a y2k type problem to me. I shoulda bought it b4 1/1/01 I guess. I sure hope for rm's sake that this isn't systemic because most guys buying these don't know about this thread and are just gonna return the unit. This could get ugly.
