Rand McNally Support Thread. (Part 3)

This is not the first time I have seen this and Rand does not know where it is coming from.

The TND 520 / 720 / 530 / 730 models are not "end of life." They still are getting updates (but not as often as some would like.)

They actually got updated this week in fact.

Not sure if its been mentioned,but the issue I have on my 540 is the speed icon keeps flipping back and forth to zero.

 

Hi. I'm having the same issue with battery life, We run teams so truck is only shut down for 24 hours a week. and has been working just fine. I did an update 2 months ago. And since then the battery doesnt last thru the day.

It was a introduced bug introduced with the last major device update on my TND510 (3790) & made its way onto an update on 530 as well.

Mark acknowledged that Rand knew about the error after multiple complaints some years back and were working on a fix.

They even rolled back the version that introduced the bug for awhile but then released it again unfixed.

Still doesn't work unless they released a fix for the x30 series in the past couple years; sure haven't for the x10 series.

 

Are you saying that you normally run it all day on battery? That would be unusual battery life for any trucking GPS.

 

This has been fixed , Rand McNally should release it soon, it is due to the Adenoid OS bug (only see on 540) sometimes after 5+ hours driving) sends same data 2 times with the same GPS positions, of cause, if two points are the same, the SPEED must be zero..

 

yeah, they screwed up the routing. its adding unnecessary miles on some of my routes.

example, our Indy yard is in Greenwood off of 65. Coming from the east on 465 they now try to route me past 65 to US31 then turn around to come back to 65. Adds 9 miles miles snd my route settings are for fastest route.

They STILL didnt update Michigan truck speed to 65 where the limit for car speed is at least 65. That law went into effect Jan 5th of LAST year.

 

please post your starting location (it does no need to be the exact)
and
the destination, we can try on 2018 map on google and rand mcnally unit.
(assume your all truck info as default settings)

i see its 2018 map has 65 for i-75 in Michigan

 

Columbus Ohio to Greenwood Indiana. Set to fastest route. Before it always routed 70 to 65 at 4 miles longer than 465, which I always take anyway and it recalculates at 3 or 4 minutes shorter.

And I did the available update. Michigan remains at 60 truck speed on my unit a 530
