But wouldn't that put it back to using internal memory and not the micro SD card?

 

It might do that but I would think there would be a setting somewhere to use SD again. I hope you can find the right reset procedure but if not, I'd try the one a few posts previous to this one. Especially if your unit is a doorstop.

 

It's not a doorstop. It hung on the 7_jvi.bin file. This means that this file is still corrupt and so are the others in the 59 files that come after it.

The memory card only holds the maps, not the operational program.

1) Have you been able to try a second D&R through the Rand Dock since the hangup? (D&R stands for diagnostic and repair)

 

Google's first result for that search is pointing to a useless answer if you own a TND-720. This is sometimes a problem with Google.

 

Rand's dock should help you to recover if you are NOT use windows 10.

 

Right now, for all practical purposes, it is a doorstop as far as we are concerned. It isn't working for the purpose for which it is intended. I know that Mark could fix it though, and I was hoping someone else on here would know what to do too. I would like to try D&R again on a newer computer when I have the opportunity, if I can download the dock and figure out how to get the 720 registered on it. I believe the original computer just couldn't handle it. Not sure what it was lacking in, but I believe it was lacking in something. It is pretty old.

 

I hope so. I will try it when I get a chance. We definitely don't have Windows 10 - far from it.

 

So I upgraded from 730 to 740... I do like a number of the changes. I read if you want to transfer your addresses from one to the other go to website, blah blah blah... I did but could not find it so I called Support.

While I did have to wait for 30+ minutes, the gentleman that finally answered was very helpful and explained what I needed to do... just transfer one file from the 730 to the 740... via computer... cool

But then I discover that the 740 was actually an Android Tablet... (I didn’t know that) ... and I have to load some Android Transfer Program onto my Mac to do this.... ugh... not an Android program ... on my beloved Apple Mac....

So anyway... this file... does anyone know if we can modify it apart from the actual 730/740?

I am thinking of making a “Company Customer File” to be given to any new Driver here that has a RM... then they have all the addresses from the word go... but I really don’t want to enter every address via the 740.

And honestly RM, you make the 740 with WiFi but we have to tether it to a computer to swap a simple address database file???

Sync it to my Dropbox or other Cloud Service and let me modify it with a simple App... Android and iOS...

My 740 has been asking me to install an update over and over for two days now. I have installed it several times and it keeps telling me there is an important update and keeps asking me if I want to install it. It’s sometbig to do with the mph. Anyone else having this problem?
