Hi had a TND 720 for 5 years with no flaw but being a tech person I wanted the tablet quick to find out it's a piece of junk not worth lugging home and it cost me in Canada $683.00 bought it in May since May I have 63,000 thousand km the unit only register 44,000 km it keep freezing every run to this day it has not fully work from point A to point B speed vary at all time, miles marker shift from number to lower number, elevation you going uphill but number are going down and yes every run between 400 km and 500 km I get a black screen, one month ago I purchase a XGODY X4 a 9" truck gps for $79.39 for the money one amazing GPS it truly put Rand Mcnally to shame, Donald Trump "buy america" like hell I will Donald.

To be fair, rand is an American based company but they get their stuff manufactured in China. Your XGODY you bought was probably assembled at a factory next door to Rands, if not in the same building .

OK so what's your point. If this unit is as good as the RM unit and possibly made at the same place it is 6x cheaper so why should we buy from RM.
I would be interested in seeing a full review of this unit by bona fida truckers to see if it is worth buying.
Also there is nothing Fair about American based companies, regardless of where they manufacture their products, of putting out inferior products and ripping us off.

I agree. Just wanted to point out they(Rand) will get this stuff thrown together and put it out there but then totally abandon the drivers even technical support is needed. I wasn't trying to disparage your purchase. If it does what it is supposed to and doesn't take a dump on you, fantastic. I looked it up myself and it looks ok, haven't seen any reviews, and reasonably priced.

    700k miles, a lot!
please ignore the battery issue, just plug in to the 12V all the time.

I have scoured the internet looking for a battery for one of my 730's and although I found a few that were compatible as far as size, voltage and amps, none of them had the same 3 wire hookup as the RM battery. Not knowing what the 3 rd wire is for could be problematic. I found most of the GPS manufacturers offered replacement batteries except RM so it appears that they only want their company to do repairs and won't sell you any parts.
As far as the date and time problem, it is up to RM to apply a fix but they don't seem to want to do that and force people to buy the new units which are based on Android and get away from the old system.
I have tried a few of the suggestions that were posted here to try and fix the date problem and they worked for a very short time and the unit always reverted back.
I really miss Mark as he had helped me a lot keeping my GPS units working properly and I'm sure he could have found a fix for this problem. Now the only option is to send it to RM and for $100 bucks they will fix it for you or screw it up even worse.

go figure. ran 530 all week, other than date and time , no issues(besides speed limit and routing updates needed)

plug in and turn on, no gps signal. date and time wrong of course but a month and 12 hours behind.

finally links up and its correct date and time..... out of the blue.
