Rand McNally Support Thread. (Part 3)

What a Shame... perfect opportunity to have your “community” help improve the product and squander it away. In the days of apps, social media and crowd sourced data, RM is still working an out of date business model.

 

I could be wrong, but I sense a departure of Rand McNally from the standalone GPS device business. Maybe opting for software only for your phone or device.

Just an opinion.

 

I’d buy an iPad mini and slap an RM App on it if the underlying data gets updated. Would be a better use of my money compared to the now $800 I’ve given RM.

they tried an App for their RV options but then never heard anymore about them doing other Apps.

 

I just bought a overdryve pro 7 like 4 weeks ago and now every time I check for an update the device thinks that i do not have internet access, live data does not work either. Can someone please help me. I already call my internet provider and there is not any limitations on my hot spot connection. I can access Firefox on the overdryve pro so I know it does have internet.

I tried the repair option but it does not work either

 

I would ditch that thing asap. There is a reason they’re so cheap right now.

 

I paid 669$ canadian on Amazon. I still have until January 31 to return it. That suck I used to have a RM 530. I really like the organization of their truck gps but if I can not use the map update and live date than i guess i will have to return it

 

They’ve had huge problems with most of their stuff for a couple years now. I think that the new TND’s are an attempt to win back customers. I don’t plan to buy anything RM until they get their crap fixed.

 

I'm still using a 730. The weather and traffic stopped working about three weeks ago. Don't know why. I don't think they have any actual technical people at Rand McNally. I think they just outsource everything overseas. That's why bugs exist for years without being fixed and updates only come once a year. My guess is someone unplugged the live data server and no one has noticed yet.

 

I think it may have to do with their website been hacked a couple of weeks ago. But i don't have time to waste waiting for a fix

 

Agreed... my Live Data went down the same time as they website was hacked... IF that’s what actually happened.
