Don't think you will ever be able to shift that transmission like a pro?
Hell, we all ground a few gears learning how to shift gears when we were new. Before you know it, you will be floating gears just like us old timers.
It just takes practice.

Just remember all of the good things that made you want to drive. Remember being stuck in an office with the walls closing in, the endless mind numbing meetings and the feeling of never satisfaction of a job well done.
Remember that as long as you keep your driving record clean, work hard, be honest that things will only get better with time. More and more choices in who to work for and what to haul. Treat others the way you want to be treated and good things will happen to you.just lil me Thanks this. -
Being professional and being honest, go hand in hand.

Good post! Palazon had a really good tip that I lived by. Jim also had some good info. I would just throw in for encouragement that no matter how bad your day is or week, take a minute to realize how great your job really is. This job is a career and an adventure! It really gives you the greatest opportunity to literally see this entire country (and sometimes Canada)! It will instill in your mind some of your most memorable times of your life! It is also an education of your country. You also meet people from all walks of life and make friends from state to state. As big as this country is once you become a truck driver it really seems like you are just driving around your home town. I love the feeling of personally having a google earth in my memory bank. When there is a story on the news or when someone is talking about a particular place I can actually say "I've been there". Another plus is you don't have a boss on your butt or annoying co-workers. Drive in your "PJ's" if you want! Whether it be snow, rain, sunshine, desert, mountains, beachside, big city, you are just about a day away from any of this! Most people pay big money to be able to see all these things and it usually takes them a lifetime to do it. To sum it up, love what you do! Everything in life has it's up and downs.
Hope this sounded somewhat encouraging!

"You can go down a hill 'too slow' every day of your life, the day of your life you decide to go down the hill TOO fast, is the last one."
"Remember, any trucker that tells you they aint crapped their pants, or pooed in the natural weather god gave them, hasn't been trucking long enough yet."just lil me Thanks this. -
Actually this was said to me during my schooling. My instructors said it to me over and over.
"Stop saying and thinking you can't. Start saying you will."TruckerDragon and just lil me Thank this.
