We gonna be light the next few weeks, no schools. End of the week I was 1209 cases but i see that dropping. Traffic was light Thursday night going into New York and really light Friday evening out by Philly. Shopping center parking lots where empty

Even around here it’s quite it’s almost surreal. Places are still open kind of, but a lot of events and stuff are closed down.
Although I see a lot of people out walking there dogs and kids which that’s nice to see.

Bob Dobalina and dwells40 Thank this.

I bet all my routes will be cut in half. I was covering our volume run during the second half of this week, but I bet come Tuesday I’ll go from my normal 800-1000 cases to maybe 500.

Apparently FxF has been stockpiling empty containers in Chicago:

Is that a normal deal, or is it just recently happening?

    Mike2633 Thanks this.

Saw this last night at a restaurant that would normally be open.

I tried to go to 7:00 AM mass this morning and there was a sign on the door saying “all masses cancelled until further notice by order of the Archbishop”.

    Mike2633 and misterG Thank this.

I’m not sure, found it on Facebook without much context other than the fact that is was in Chicago and done so they aren’t paying rent on the chassis.

Mike2633 and Bob Dobalina Thank this.

    Well how is everyone doing?
If you work for CVS Pharmacy your running pretty hard right now I saw 3 of there trucks last night which is 3 more then I have ever seen before.

Well so where are we at? We've hit a major slow down in the food sector, this is very odd usually with food work all you hear about is over loaded trucks and short staffing and not enough people and trailers bursting at the seems.

Right now, our routes are all pffffttttt o_O

With schools closed and restaurants only operating at 50% case count is down. Now I don't know what the ripple effect of this will be. What could happen is big swings. Sharp drop offs and then when things go back in all that pent up demand will throw freight and case counts through the roof.

I mean there's probably still a lot of freight in the system to keep you LTLs going. Were not totally down and out, but were not where we used to be. I was at 4000 cases a week almost we had those 28' trailers packed to the brim. Our 36' used to leave the warehouse with ratchet straps on the back door. Now granted this is new, the problem is I don't know what to expect money wise or what's going to happen.

These are interesting and uncharted times for sure. Although there has been some good to come out of this. I've seen a lot of people out in the metroparks walking outside and parents with there kids. I see kids playing outside and people working on there yards some. It's not all been bad in some regards. I have a leaf business in the fall collecting leaves I'm almost ready to offer a spring yard clean up. Although right now it's still kind of early for that. The weather is still blahh and we don't have year round yard waste where I live so I have no way to get rid of yard waste right now so that's out for the moment.

I'd like to know what the new normal will be. I mean I wanted to buy a new car this year that's now out the window. I wanted to get an addition to my sprinkler system that's also out the window as of today. I was going to refinance my house, but that's a little iffy at the moment, because I'd have to pay closing costs again and it would take an entire year to realize those savings. I mean I hope I don't have to dip into my savings to pay the day to day bills I don't think that will happen, but I don't know what's going to happen I don't think anyone does just yet. Oh well I'll stop my whining all of you have a nice day. Please be careful out there.

These pictures were all taken during the middle of the day.
Normally these roads would be packed full of cars and trucks and the parking lot at Rustic would be full to the brim.
