Hi Lual I finished Orientation last Friday and then watched all the training videos at home (something like 66 videos) covering how to use the tablet for navigation, sending messages, HOS, etc. I am still waiting to be contacted by my trainer. I texted with my recruiter and she said Fontana is really backed up right now and that they would be in touch soon.
Most of the time 'decked' tractors are new going out to the carrier's locations. Since three empty tractors does not weigh anything close to 80,000# and the equipment is new, the DOT shouldn't pay that much attention. Chem Leaman took delivery of the new Macks thru 'allen branch', the Allentown, Pa. dealership and ferried them to Nazareth with some going over to Stockertown for 'prep' including door decals, etc. before a local wrecker outfit came to Nazareth's yard and decked them. Since the R model pedegree tandems were always interconnected the had to pull the front axle shafts out and cover the open end. The kingpin was mounted in a'serious' casting and bolted onto the beam of the steering axle and I think I remember safety chains too plus lights and mudflaps on the last tractor connected to the driven tractor. Nazareth's rebuild shop also had a two tractor trailer, with jackshaft driven winch, for hauling in the sick tractors. That guy would deadhead out with his horse and a new unit on the trailer with another new unit hooked to the trailer during the distribution of new trucks but most were decked and driveaways.
Only because ZVar said it, but, this statement is 100% wrong. And if they are broken, get them fixed. For the rest, setting the trolley valve is NOT the proper way to check the brake lights or the brake adjustment either. And while we are on the subject you don't check the signal lights with the 4 ways either.
He means (I think) that you are not testing the circuit for which the individual application is applied. Accurate would be brake pedal down and go check. Also each signal on and check.
How do you apply the brake pedal and go check? Jam something between the seat and brake? Also, what is T Call stand for? A call you make when the trailer is empty or loaded? My company is taking quite awhile getting me a trainer. It has been almost a week.
I haven’t used a runaway ramp yet but would like to on retirement day Either that or pit maneuver some moron you tries to cut me off.
