I am a bit delayed getting a driver trainer. One did call last week, the same day I had to rush my foster dog to the vet (he died). I am expecting a call today. I was wondering, did any of you have fun during your driver training period or did it just suck all around heh?

At my first company, the "trainer" and I did not get along so I got another one for 3 weeks I think. Second company I didn't do anything but ride along for a 4 days, maybe open a trailer door here and there lol. 3rd place just a day of learning the product and touring the plant then off I went the next day. 4th place (tanker) was about a 3 or 4 day training and learning product and loading, but since I haven't done tankers before nor sugar products, my whole time there was a learning process. I suppose it just depends on what you are hauling, what your hauling it in, experience...etc.

I hope things go well with this driver trainer. I admit I am pretty nervous, have to spend about 2 weeks with this person. I have no hearing in my right ear, some damage to the left and I need cooperation from whomever I communicate with (ie they need to speak just a bit slower, talk just a bit louder). Some people are willing to do this no problem, some arent. I notice in general that women are far more accommodating in this regard than men are, although most men will speak up. I need this training to work and to get on the road making some money asap.

Chart I made in between watching backing videos and other research. It is supposed to show the amount of horsepower that the Jakes, or some other method, need to dissipate in order to keep the truck at a constant speed downhill. Hopefully the numbers are ballpark correct, I am pretty rusty at doing numbers like this. If correct, I am amazed at how much power must be dissipated by the Jakes in order to maintain speed. Again I don't know if my methodology is correct or if these numbers are a mile off. I assumed no air resistance and 80,000 lbs.

I got contacted by a driver trainer finally. He sounds pretty cool, easy to understand and communicate with..So awesome! We meet tonight at about 1:30 AM, leave from Fontana Ca headed to Phoenix then off to N. Carolina. Training should take about 2 weeks. It's happening, I am very excited.
