Soak them in a bucket of diesel. That will usually free them up.Oxbow, jacquesi23 and Chewy352 Thank this.

I would think 3 in 1 might help. I had a padlock seized up. Sprayed a bunch of pb blaster in it and it wouldn't budge. Maintenance guy where I was at let me use his 3 in 1 and with a couple wiggles of the key it popped right open. The stuff is magic.

I've heard of that before too. What is it about diesel that helps?

The oil base of the fuel
jacquesi23 and Chewy352 Thank this. -
I am not sure about the specific properties but diesel is nothing more than a very thin oil. It is also cheaper than any other penetrating oil and since you need to penetrate 6" of thread on either end you need to submerge the binder in order for the lubricant to penetrate all the way through the threads.
jacquesi23 and Chewy352 Thank this. -
In the winter time i use a squirter oil can
Filled with old drain oil.
This also works for lubing the 5th wheel when it's -25.
Summer time pb blaster or something like it.
The key is spinning them closed and then putting them away.blairandgretchen and Chewy352 Thank this. -
I prefer snaps as well but they are banned on a lot of places I go to (like on mine sites). Same where you are?

Kroil - it's in a orange spray can. It works great.

Diesel and ATF. Plus I keep a wire brush with me to clean the threads.
