Landstar is a whole lot more than a simple 'dispatch service'

If you are working for any “dispatch company” you are 100% correct that you are in fact being ripped off

    edit: just noticed old thread

Just downloaded the Landstar app to see what's going on for dry van loads. It could just be my region however not much besides something leave Monday That's 650 deadhead miles from my location. I'm wondering because it's a free user selection or they haven't much out of Canada?

I've never seen too many of them running around up here. Only did maybe a dozen loads for them over my 12 years or so running my own authority. Good company to deal with, just don't have a very big footprint on the market up here is all.

I figured that as I'm looking through Landstars loadboard. As I'm looking on another Loadboard (Direct freight) a load from Seaforth, ON to Winona, MN paying $1.62 cpm. Loads here (Ontario, Canada) offer much less off a load board oppose the Usa or even avg. Direct contract freight even when leased onto a reasonable carrier. It Only makes me wonder how some of these Canadian Landstar O/o's are even breaking even let alone making a profit?

Yeah that is junk. It works pretty much the same up here, most of what you find on any board is crap nobody wants. Once in a while you'll find something paying decent, and if you do a good job the next time that load is up broker just call you and set it up before it ever hits the board. This is likely someone has come in and promised the customer they can get it done for much less than the steady rate the customer has been paying for a long time now so here we are. We also have our share of customers ALWAYS looking for the lowest price, and hire a handful of brokers who also race to the bottom so they can maybe make $50 on the load. The market up here, for the most part, in times of stability, customers and carriers alike prefer to work together looking for more mid to longer term arrangements. This severe downturn is also throwing everything askew, and is not normal. It is exactly the opposite it was under covid when it was pretty much name your price and they will pay it. In time, things will equalize. Always does, just taking a bit longer this time around.

Waste of money using those high internet pay day loan scammers, same with then piece of #### dispatch services I’d rather get my finger nails ripped out one by one with a rusty set of vice grips then ever get another call from those low life #### bags

Too many times (once or twice) I’ve headed toward a load before getting the rate con in the email and had changes made or even load cancelled. If it’s a trusted party maybe not bad but someone you don’t know or trust no way. Not happening.

You’re getting loaded before getting the rate con? That’s not how it works. Again maybe if they were trusted and these are short trips so it won’t screw you too bad maybe. No way I’m loading for a 500+ mile trip without review rate con.
