    That's what I've been told.

    Proof beyond a doubt.

You need to think for yourself and not believe every rumor you hear.

If you don’t have any money then a lawyer probably won’t take your case unless they think it’s winnable because taking their cut of the winnings is their only hope of getting paid.

If you have money to retain and pay a lawyer they will do about anything you want because you’re paying them by the minute.

You need to stop being wrong.
I know plenty of lawyers that will take a case if one is willing to pay them.
Sorry your ego can't ever admit you are wrong.

I mean rub two brain cells together. If a lawyer wouldn't take a case unless it was winnable, where is the lawyer on the other side from?

Just maybe he went to the wrong kind of lawyer. Might not even practice in that area of law.

What law firm did you contact and they said they would not do work like that?

I know it's hard to continue a discussion when you flat refuse to admit how wrong you are. I'm with wanting to know which lawyer told you this, and more important, how do you believe such nonsense.

    Siinman Thanks this.

He didn’t have the money to pay a retainer up front and they wouldn’t take his case.

So while ethically, a lawyer should inform their clients or prospective clients about the hopelessness of the case, they don't have to refuse to work on it, if the client is persistent.
A lawyer would take a retainer and get a try at whatever, even when their help is not needed. An example are hopeless traffic court cases or easy court cases, where defendant can "accomplish" the same without a lawyer being involved. For example, Colorado once had an option to pay up front for a certain moving violation with no contest, in exchange for a "non-moving" violation for the the same amount or so. I did not know this and the quotes I was given from a bunch of lawyers from Denver area were ranging from $500 - $1500...until one honest lawyer simply told me to reverse the ticket and read carefully what it says in the back.
