you played hardball over a measly 80 bucks because you don't have a twic card? that's like a mechanic not having the right size socket and expecting the customer to buy it for him. that hardball attitude you took has a lot to do with why they weren't willing to overlook the missed check call you AGREED to.

dbny5000, this is all on you. the rate sheet they sent confirmed it.
you also missed a check call, it would have been easy to make a check call.
no, they don't owe you anything. you dropped the ball, plain and simple. -
Show them who is boss and haul for other brokers for a while. There are many who have their hands in the port loads. I can't imagine CHR is the only one that is paying that rate (or better).
Generally the TWIC card is included in the all-in rate. It is not something like lumpers fees. When negotiating for a load, try to get them to go a bit higher and maybe tell them "well the TWIC fee is $80, can you meet me halfway on the cost for another $40?". You can make more money by actually having the TWIC card and paying a lower fee or no fee at all. A TWIC card does not take long to pay for itself.
Don't do that breakdown for check calls and all that. Just get an all-in rate. Now they can do exactly what they are doing and jerk you around for $50 or $100 here and there. -
CH is the only company that I don't sign the conformation I find that crazy.....
