Not the right place for this thread but it seems to get the most attention.
Background about me:
I am 33 years of age and graduated with a BCOMM degree in 2015 when I also started my first job as an Accountant in small not-for-profit. I am currently a CPA working as a Senior Financial Analyst for a Real Estate investment company in Canada earning a decent amount of base plus bonus. From 2017 to 2020, I left my career to pursue a trucking endeavor because my father who had a small and cash burning trucking company was diagnosed with an illness and was off work for a very long time. While in trucking, I did everything from finding business (clients) to driving truck and I know a lot of tools of this business. I currently enjoy my work but I do not want to be a employee for the rest of my life and want to start this today.
My experience tells me that the biggest challenge that trucking companies face is not finding good drivers to work for them. Drivers face a similar issue of not finding good employers.
A good percentage of the drivers are owner operators and have their own trucks. When trucks break-down, the drivers are out of work. When work is slow, the drivers are out of work. This is another weakness of the industry that the drivers face.
My idea:
I want to bridge this gap between truckers and trucking companies by reducing the time it takes a trucker to get on board with another company for a short period of time. The problem I want to fix, is drivers should be able to work for 2 days, 1-2 weeks or longer if let's say their truck is in the shop.
A website will be created with driver profiles that have been cleared with background checks and are rated based on their experience. Trucking companies would go on this website to find drivers and drivers will go on there to find work.
What do ya'll think?

It cost too much to hire drivers for a short time. You have to pre employment drug test. Pull driving records. Get them on your insurance. Etc…

Curious who you figure will be paying for this service?

I think there was a startup like that few years ago, billboards were all over Indianapolis, forgot the name of it

Sounds similar to what Intelliapp already does for a lot of carriers currently.
To further speed up the hiring process for experienced drivers you'd need to figure out a way to expedite drug testing in a manner that satisfies federal regulations and insurance requirements. Im sure that can be done today, but isn't because it's likely cost prohibitive once you consider the amount of drivers you'd need to be clearing daily.

When working with the government, make plans that will account for environmental studies that can take 10 years before you build a hut.
your going to ask “what does building a hut” and a “10 year environmental study” have anything to do with trucking. The answer is regulations.Vampire and Flat Earth Trucker Thank this. -
Drug test and police clearance will be on their profile once they register on this website and will updated regularly per the regulations.
I believe this needs to be done once a year? Correct me if I am wrong.
Also, the same with driver records and cvor. However I am not sure about trucking companies adding drivers on their insurance part -

So essentially you are a recruiting service. Most likely will not work here in the US but Canada may work.

This idea is already going on with temp agencies. Co's that need a temp for a day or 2 don't want to "process in" a new hire just to have him short term.
