I’m just a company guy but I’ve lurked enough on these forums and skimming load boards to notice that rates always go down around the late summer and fall season. The salt belt regions rates climb up during the winter guessing a lot of drivers are scared of a little snow so they go down south and crash the rates for lanes below i20.

I'm on track to have one of my best months ever. Looking forward to National CVSA Brake Check week that starts this Sunday 8-22 and goes thru next Saturday 8-28. Should be a big boon for rates. It always has been.

Let me ask this question. How often if ever has CPM for company drivers been retracted? I ask this because the base pay for cents per mile for a lot of us OTR drivers has went up about 10-20% over the last two years and if the overall market is coming down and rates are coming down I don’t see how companies can hold up those pay increases. Has there ever been a time in history when companies have taken back the raises they’ve recently given?

They can easily let the few extra cpm go to drivers w/o any issue whatsoever. They could pay 1.00mi and still make out good.............
.......just not as good as their robber barren platform now.

Dude, I'm talking about the last few weeks things slowing down.

No business decisions should be made over swings over a few weeks.
Besides that, trucking companies have always paid peanuts, easy to raise pay from peanuts to tic-tacks lol.

There might be some spikes some segments before people are starting to hoard stuff again being covid starting to go wild again.

Schools all across the country are shutting down again due to covid, a simply search will show that.
We all know what happens when covid gets out of control, THE economy get crushed.

It did in 2008-2010. About 10%-15% in Chicago area. There was also an "overage" of drivers. Some drivers were put on waiting lists to get a job. It was the only time, I remember, when they cut the pay.
I am not talking about jobs at Mega carriers. They always pad too little to be able to retract anything.
