And to think I almost went to bed without checking the forum to see what I could learn today. I feel much smarter now.

Welp, I couldn’t have said it better. I don’t think most understand how much effort it takes to do alright out here. It takes allot of money and effort to be in it for the long haul. There are some good rates out here but they don’t revolve around easy jobs. Try to sell those for too cheap and you can fall on your face. Talent knows the price it’s worth. Don’t want to pay for it, don’t expect it. Pay cheap, get cheap. On the other side, want good $ during this downturn, you need talent. Don’t know how many guys I have talked to the last month that want the money I make but when they hear what I do to make it they get weak. I have literally heard the words, “ that sounds like work.” -Well, that’s the point!

Well the past few weeks were nice but it seems like the trash carriers are back to work and rates have adjusted accordingly.

Not really. I'm sure most drivers would like to see a level of behavior and honesty that they're just not seeing now. What the brokers see coming back at them is a well deserved attitude on the part of a working class that's been taken advantage of for too long.
You might want to consider another line of work.

Even brokers that I am very very tight with just simply have no idea what it is like to own and operate a big interstate truck on crap roads. No matter how many times I show them and tell them horror stories.

The only only only way they will ever ever know is to go and do it.

    Broker's view of trucker -
    1) OMG they live in those trucks, at those disgusting truck stops.
    2) Really, if he had anything on the ball, he'd work in an office.

Why is it that the young brokers always think they are doing gods work and the world turns for them... If you think you axtually provide that much value to this industry, you should put some skin in the game and buy a truck yourself and see the other side of it.. Then maybe you will understand 5.80 a mile for a 280 mile load is a very fair rate and even could be considered cheap depending what the work entails...

The brokers thats been in the game for along time very rarely have this type of attitude because they know its a difficult business for all parties involved. And the industry could run fine without them just less efficiently...alot of these newer brokers need to humble themselves. I see it alot on linkedin . some of the #### these guys post is comical. Shows you how they view themselves. Like a god #### freight superhero thinking they are actually doing anything other then picking up a phone. Like they saved the god dam world. Those are the same guys that freak out and go ballistic when there is a minor problem in transit.. I cant tell you how many young brokers i talk to that just grind my gears. Have to watch myself to not say stupid #### to their nonsense.
