I love Walmart. They don’t bother me with lumper payments as a carrier. Also I am far from wealthy. I am just a poor trucker, so Walmart and Aldi is where my wife shops. We cannot afford to shop anywhere else.
Another thought on grocery industry in US. There really is no small independent grocery anymore. Grocers use a food distributor to purchase the bulk of their product. If is not feasible to have agreements with the thousands of independent product producers in the inventory. So they use SpartanNash, IGA, etc… to fill their shelves. They have lost their freedom to the power of the grocery distributors and the consumer….the independent grocery is dead. It’s all like being leased on if you compare how our industry works. A “independent “ grocer is an independent as an owner operator can chose who to lease on. Sad, but it is the reality no one likes to talk about.

I never once pretended they aren't driven by profit. I told you the trucks are a tool that is at the core of what they do, driving costs down. So not really a cost. You're too hard headed to see it because you only think in terms of hauling freight from point A to point B for a profit.

Youre piling on about the Tracey Morgan thing. That was years ago. They changed policy to deal with that. A driver who lived 800 miles from the DC commuting then working a full shift his first day with no rest? That doesn't happen anymore.

Lowering standards? Not happening. They don't just put meat in the seat and toss a set of keys to anybody who drops an app here. Everybody that works here earned the job and standards are held to every day on the job. It's actually the opposite of the vast majority of trucking out there what's wrong with it and what everybody complains about. There ain't no flip flops here and nobody that smells like they've been wallowing around with wet goats either.

the money you give to an independent goes to them. I could give a #### less where they source their product.... it's their money once it leaves my hand.... maybe I should drive 100 miles into the city like everyone else and then one day we won't have a grocery store left...

That's like saying a independent mechanic doesn't make their own parts so u should go give your money to the dealership instead since that's where the parts come from.

The local restaurants and BBQ places around my DC love catering the regular orders of food for 150-200 people that come in to their place of business ever so often. When Walmart's feeding the drivers, mechanics and transportation office personnel for a job well done. How's that for supporting local business?

It's time people knew the truth about @ElmerFudpucker. He was a driver at a DC in the South, one of their top performers.

He had a sweet safety vest with Wal Mart flair, he led the morning Wal Mart chants and the pre shift stretches.

One day, he was on the phone with Kevin Rutherford discussing the importance of posting your truck. His manager recognized his voice, and they pulled his phone records. Since the call lasted twelve minutes and violated company policy, he was let go.

He has deeply resented them ever since.
