Was doing alright around Chicago/Indy/Dayton, OH areas recently for reefer freight but this week it was hella garbage. It's paying the same as van freight. Now I really try to stay out of Chitown since them Euro's got that freight on lock over there. I'm probably just gonna head over to MN/WI or upstate NY for some decent freight hopefully.

bbone Thanks this. -
i think all the guys that drove box trucks, bought tandems w dry vans, the guys that pulled vans, bought flats, the ones that pulled flats, bought steps, the ones that pulled steps bought rgns, and so on and so on. At least thats what I hear at the TS when Im having lunch or dinner. And Im not even touching how different ethnicities and races bring down rates ( or so they say ).

Me and Ric talked about this about 4weeks ago but the last two weeks really dropped I was in Cleveland Tuesday every load I called on going to Texas was around $2,200 on 1,300 miles and heavy had lots of calls but nobody liked my prices.
Im im starting to get better rates from the south going north than the other way around which is usually the way it works, also getting a lot of feedback about how this winner should be brutal like last years....281ric and dannythetrucker Thank this. -

It's definitely slowed down a bunch and rates have come down but there is always hot areas. Last couple weeks have been BAD in Houston. I stayed home an extra two days because if I'm going to lose money I'll lose money by sitting at home not hauling for free. I'm going on vacation next week so hopefully October will be better.

I have customers willing to pay good money to get stuff moved and the brokers they have working on them are still trying to get trucks cheap. Good for me I guess, when the brokers don't get trucks I get $$$. But for my fellow O/O's I would say try to get on as many direct shipper email lists as possible. Why pay a broker to cut and paste the load onto a loadboard ?

So much so was hoping bill would let us go rent a reefer.but seems most of those hi dollar are team loads.

depends on where you are hauling and what you hall,,rates usually drop in the fall due to the reduction of freight volume..no one forces you to haul cheap. you can turn down cheap freight and always demand more
