Also, you already have access to the LS board. So just start searching Flatbed and SD loads in your area while you sit around and you will get an idea if switching is good for you.

I'm lucky that my dad (dispatcher of the 3 road trucks [including me]) won't move a truck for less than $2.00 a mile. He'd rather run empty. Before Christmas I came home from Detroit empty because everyone had already shut down. I haven't dropped below $1.98 including dead head and all all year so far. Thanks dad!

i had a truck leased to land star up till last year. (I didt dtive it just owner it) Nothing hit the deck unless it paid $2.00-3.00 depending on area like SHC noted. Land star has good freight you just can't be lazy.

Pardon the noob question... when y'all quote rates like "$2.00 a mile" does that include FSC?

Well they are right for some reason rates are all over the place, but you know as well as I if you go to some areas your going to have to dead head out Oakgrove being one of them just like south Floridia or Cali, flatbed and stepdecks get cheap there and loads are far and few so you have to be willling to jump sometimes 300 miles for a good load. I know going into south Fl I'm going to come outbetween 2-3 per mile unless I jump up to Jax. You can get good frieght and good money but you have to be agressive and not sit on your but and whine how hard things are

True.Just be sure to ''add'' that 300 mile LOSS into the rate..I am lucky this week..On the 3400 mile round i had 180 in deadhead..To bad this is few and far between...

true but heavy haul 300 is about average. its on the edge for flat or standard step loads. I feel bad for the guys in vans having to that kind of jump

    landstar8891 and SHC Thank this.
