That's true. It can be a gauge for if an area is busy. You have to know the rates in an area for it to be that kind of indicator though.

Random thought, somewhat related. I see a company post a load with rather decent rate but the thing is they post it after they close (5pm) and it's gone before they open 8 am. I've tried calling a few times but no one home. I've tried to fathom the reason they would do it, if it was a fake load but whatever I guess.

Boards like ITS, the broker can see that you are looking for loads in whatever area you're looking. Ex. I'm in Indy looking at a load going to Joplin, MO so I look at loads in the Joplin area, never click anything just look at capacity within X miles. Five minutes later I get a call looking for an empty truck in Missouri. They can also see you if you clicked on their load.

Maybe you're calling the office, no-one is even there after hours, and you don't have the cell # that you really need to get to who is trying to cover the load. Might be that they have their go-to carriers and cell #'s were exchanged for just this reason long ago. Maybe they couldn't get their go-to trucks on the phone and posted, then they got in touch with them. It happens. Good freight from good brokers or agents never goes on a load board. Just a guess. Could have been a fake posting too.

Yeah the idea about posting it for the in crowd didn't really occur to me. I have just tried called the posted number. Next time I will try calling some of the brokers themselves lol just happen to have several of their numbers and emails. You put a smile on my face the concept never hit till now. I like you run mostly boards and some of my best paying loads have came from these ppl. Although their tracking/update deal can be a tad over the top.

Try to email. I've gotten return calls from listing during weekends.flatbeb mac Thanks this.

Could also be a broker who had a carrier bounce on them last minute and is trying to get it covered with whoever for whatever. This is usually when you should be drooling from the mouth and take them to town. But, be careful and don't get burned,

wouldnt posting rates save everybody a lot of time?
no more calling around endlessly just to hang up when u find out it's cheap freight or a truck is quoting too much for you.Brian Junior Thanks this. -
Why would anyone post a rate and possibly leave money on the table? Do you post the rate it takes to book your truck to save brokers the trouble with calling on you?

I posted my truck a couple Fridays ago for SDNDMNIA with the rate $2.80/mi in the comments.
I got called by brokers wanting me to go to new england. Other than that, my phone got quiet. So I deleted that part.
