Everybody does what works best for them. If you've got profit at year end that's what counts. I like to work expedite when it's there and short haul less than 400 or 300 miles general freight when it's not. I've been spoiled for a while with freight being tossed my way with great rates. Last few weeks however has been no easy street I've been picking more and more off boards. Surprisingly rates seem to be getting better here recently.. I learned a new thing in the past few weeks as well. When a broker tells you "I'm not committed to this load" it means, in the right circumstances of course, that the lowball cheap first offer is more open to bidding upwards to very good profitable rate than your typical "that's the (sorry assed) rate take it or leave it" that seems the norm. Granted sometimes this means a shipper has shopped several brokers to see who can get it done cheapest. I must be doing ok to be in the right place at the right time and not ashamed to counter with what sometimes causes brokers to smirk. Knock on wood.. Let those brokers smirk, I don't need them or their lousy freight..

Spanish is both a language, and a term used to describe those who were born in Spain. If I recall correctly from his posts, Pablo is of Spanish descent, and is currently living and working in the Ukraine.

Know several people from Spain and they 'insist" they are Spaniards and not Spanish. Watched one guy lecture someone on his ignorance in calling someone Spanish "It's a language you ignorant fool!" he kept repeating. (yes, a lot of beer was consumed before the conversation) But I see that Spain calls it's people Spanish. My bad.

:yes2557: Love how racist comments can be justified by the person saying it not being white. I'm also thinking about becoming a democrat so I can say stuff like that and get away with it.

I know many of the people here talking about getting good rates. Several run for me and I would be the first to call BS if they posted something less than the truth. And they would do the same when I say I have vans bringing better than $2/mile even when others are complaining about poor rates.

Rather than discount anyone that says they are getting these rates you should take a step back and ask how you need to change your operation to get that type of rate.

Not applicable in my case. My dispatchers keep it interesting and 9 out of 10 places I go to are brand new and for the most part I ll never come back, the same year at least. The only thing I have to sell - ontime pick up and delivery. I have first hand experience of promoting on the phone and in person so I leave the pleasure of doing the bid war and promising for the co I am leased to, no regret there.

That allows someone else to control hometime and you'll never learn ins/outs of local lanes. I like to get thru the house a time or 3 a week and weekends too - and still make good money. Plus that outlook and attitude would get me very little in the way of repeat business.

I heard this conversation years ago at a go-go place , just came to mind:
one veteran girl said she made more because she had loyal customers on Fri and Sat,
another young one said " So what, I dance every night"

First, love the pools in Vegas. We did the majority of our business planning when starting this company from a private cabana at the Vadara.

Doing well, only think of selling this beast several times a week and have learned to control the night terrors with getting fall down drunk before I go to bed.

Other than that, in the middle of moving to Chattanooga. IL chased this trucking company out. Interesting how different things are in a red state. It was a shocker to see how an economy can grow when the politicians get out of your way and take their responsibility seriously. The state senators make less than $20k a year and it is a part-time job.

15 trucks and growing. Miss the truck. Will likely get back in one for a day to move some trailers but mostly desk work for me these days.
