Rates?

I don't care where it comes from but it has defiantly affected our business with customers. Mills are slow to put it mildly. It was never about not hauling foreign made products, heck we do that daily, but more about how it has affected our business, rates, and lanes traveled. You always have to look out for number one....

 

Usually a truck move 2 or 3 loads from US Steel at Gary IN per day, each load paying $420.00, now are moving 1 or 2 maximum by $380, plus less activity at oil fill. Is very hard get a descent rate on loads now.

 

It's only going to get worse from what I can see in the foreseeable future. I've got the covered wagon off doing regular open deck work. I will not work for that cheap.

 

I've conestoga and I don't get cheap load. I prefer stay at home looking for good rate, make 3 good trips and not 4 cheap trips month. Tire, reparations, insurance count on my decisions and on that way I keep in good shape my truck, trailer and bank account. But many cheap op doesn't keep this on mint ant get any heavy load for $ 1.15/mile. The trucking's horizon doesn't see good now. Must be very selective at moment to hook a load.
