Fact is, with more than a six month gap in your experience, most companies are going to treat you as a new student. They don't allow for special circumstances, or they'd be required to treat you like a human, and they just can't have that...

I completely understand where you two are coming from. But it's not exactly easy to get back into the industry after being out awhile nowadays. Do I like the idea of being a "student" again? No, but I've always believed that in order to get what you want in life, you've gotta do what you've gotta do. I know there are other options, like trying to team up with an O/O, but that's not always the easiest thing to get set up either.

I've been doing leg work on getting back into the industry for nearly 6 months now, and it's all basically pointed back to the same thing. Either suddenly become great friends with an O/O willing to give me a shot, or go to a mill, and get treated like a steering wheel holder for awhile again.

I have no problem with the fact that you have to go back to school. That's just a requirement we can not get around. All I'm saying is you have more than the regular student coming out of school and I believe you'd have a better shot at a job if you spoke face to face with a company.

That might be true, and again, I appreciate everyone's knowledge on this board. Unfortunately, the only places close to me that I know of would be ol' Penny a Mile, or JB. Not that the other mills would be any better, but when options are limited, you do what you must.

I don't know your area but I do know that I've seen a lot of trucks from Fort Smith AR. I suggest that you download a list of trucking companies in your area and get out and go see them. It's only a suggestion and you do what you want but I don't think it's as bleak as you say. Just be sure to download trucking companies and not trucking jobs. There's many places you can find where the companies are and keep in mind that the better companies have no need a lot of times to advertise. It's a matter of hitting the right spot at the right time. And like I said before you have one up on most applicants but the company can't see that in computer correspondence.

    devilman Thanks this.
