Congrats, bigbusman. You will never ever forget your Millington experience. I went in Jan of 2009 and I am still in contact with my roomies today.
I was planning on coming back to Swift in January but I got a nice offer for regional from Averitt Express. I start with them Jan 9. Home every weekend.
I will keep up with your progress here. Can't wait to follow the adventure.
Ready or Not Here I come!!

So the first day went well, only lost one due to physical, we have 36 in our class now, it was really boring and took way longer than it should have to fill out the papers since everyone kept asking questions over and over again and telling stories, hopfully its all out of there systems now and the rest of the class time is spent learning, but we shall see. One of my room mates has come down with the flu, so im praying it doesnt get passed around. Anyway, heading for the sack 4am comes very quick.

Poor guy wnded up going home yesterday cause he was so sick..hes the only one we lost so far, classroom training today on logbooks and maps..it all takes so long cause people ask a million questions and the same question 3 or 4 times in different ways, but it was informative. I already did all the homework while we were on lunch, so I dont have to worry about that..raining pretty hard today but we were inside..tomorrow is the first time on the range, also found out today that next week we all have to go on 3rd shift and be up all night, I wasnt expecting that..but going with the flow..Im really wiped out since we have been pretty much nonstop since saturday...I get the feeling they are running us hard to seperate the ones who cant hack it..but thats just a feeling..anyway its all going good so far..i get along good with the room mates and JV the teacher is a hoot..tends to go off on tangents a little bit, but they are always funny..but so far enjoying my time here at millington, we will see how I feel tomorrow after I stand on the range all day..lol

Your "feeling" is probably pretty accurate. Driving a truck isn't a 9-to-5 job and you might as well get exposed to it now. You can be on duty 14 hours a day, drive 11 hours a day, and work 70 hours a week. And they aren't anything like "normal" hours but will include plenty of waiting, unexpected delays, bad weather, and other "joys" of the job. I have a LOT of experience in that area and can tell you it's the hardest thing to get used to.
And that is why adequate hydration - meaning water - and high-quality sleep are important. -
Thanks bbm for keeping this wannabe posted. Well yesterday I passed the cdl permit the first time around. I was so happy. I told ya I studied that book back n forth. Economy too bad to keep giving dmv my money.Called my recruiter to give him the update so now I gotta pack n get ready for bus on the 1st. Yeah wash hands often (alcohol rub is good too) eat as healthy as u can, and rest are all the ways to go for your health.
