    Hi, Sheepdog!

(this post does not have any valuable info for where you been or are at. Please read anyway.)
I'm am brand new as of today I've run in to so many other threads on many topics and thought my mind was set! But then, I've ran into this topic and have breezed thru your thread and am so impressed that the thought of ever becoming a L/P is possible!

I'm not a student, new driver, nor experienced but am working on getting certain things that I need to just even get into a training school of choice. The info that is here in your thread with the help of others on here is school to me and I appreciate it all, not saying that all other threads had no significant meaning but to this one, most meant nothing! LOL But anyway, you are my first friend and hope you the best with family, friends, business and life. You have just became my biggest inspirational motivator to what I want. I can't wait!

Hello everyone, very sorry for not posting in a while, I have been busy but, that is just an excuse. Since I posted last time, things have been a pain in the, well you know. I made it home with no problem but couldn't get anything to keep money flowing so, I ended up staying home until after the new year. That cost me big time! Until this past Friday's settlement, I have had a positive settlement since I left home, on Jan 5th Not long after I came back out on the road, I screwed up and took a load out west, again! Had a heck of a time getting back east, in fact I am still not really east, yet. I am now sitting for the weekend in Spencer, IA because I gambled and lost. Rates are in the crapper, to say the least. All due to the fuel prices being low. I took a load from Denver, CO to Louisville, KY for $1.27PM and that is the cheapest freight I have ever hauled. I pulled a load for $2.65PM right after that so, I made up for it but still, rates are ridiculously low out west. I had to finally break down and tarp a load, and than I have tarped every load since, 5 loads! I have been working my butt of to get my settlements "Back In Black" and finally did it this past Friday..

Nothing has happened with the direct customer I set up, not sure what is going on. I sent the contact an email saying I would be available Jan 5th for a load and never heard a thing. I am going to call her when I get back home. My wife's birthday is Feb 10th so, that is when I plan on going home for 2 days. I can't be staying home for more than a few days a month, until I get my weekends set up anyway.

I hope everyone had a great CHRISTmas and a Happy New Year.

WoW! You put a lot of pressure on my shoulders friend..lol I have never thought of being "motivational" but hey, your the 2nd person to say something about it..lol

Anyway, I am glad that you found TTR and are reading the good info on this site. Keep reading, and reading, and reading until you develop a plan of action. Sounds like you already have a plan of action for getting the training you need, to be a Truck Driver. The first time my butt hit the seat, in 2008, I was hooked! My father was a truck driver, and many family members are truck drivers so, it is in my blood. I just never planned on being a Truck Driver, wish I would have started sooner. Like you, I found TTR and started reading, and reading and reading, until I developed a plan. It took me 5.5 years to get where I am now and I have 3 more years to be where I want to be next. I wish you the best, the best for your family and the best for your future my friend. God Bless

Just remember this: Like the real world of trucking, life in TTR can require a fairly thick skin. There is also a lot of garbage tossed around and food, so don't necessarily take everything you read as 'true.' You've found a food place to start and that's important.

Dead Headed 175 miles to pick up a load of shingles. Was told no tarp for $550 for 329 miles. I get the BOL's and they say "customer requires all loads to be tarped", well they will have to call Matt at LandStar and deal with him. I was told "no tarp", and it is now snowing... Where I picked these up, they were all outside on the ground, some had snow on them so I am not worried about it. Just got to find me a load tomorrow, preferably a short run to close out the pay week.
