This is an driver-instructor at a college, so I do get to get away from him. Living with the guy would be something else.

]I had an instructor just like that back in '83.

Sad thing is, I couldn't get away from that mean SOB. He was married to my gramma and raised me along with her.

My uncle taught me the same way. Atleast he isn't punching you in the arm everytime you screw up. Man just thinking about it makes my right arm hurt again. :biggrin_2554:

It's been a couple of months and you still can't drive ? You might as well give it up and save the price of a bus ticket home from carrier orientation . Carriers don't give you wannabes second chances on the road test .

Yeah , you're a miracle worker that can make drivers out of the 90% misfits that run to CDL mills . What does "enabling these students " mean ? Makes no sense .
I bet no instructor has never had a student sign his paycheck .

One thing he is "trying to do", is toughen you up. It can be a cruel, cold world out there driving, and he may just want you to survive.

Although he may have "50 years" experience, I highly doubt he is with out incident or maybe even an "unreported accident".

No one is PERFECT, because if we all WERE, there would be no morons on the roads, working as cashiers, parking lot attendants, fuel desk workers, and so on and so forth.

We'd all be living in Mr. Rogers neighborhood.

I for one, am not perfect, but I try each and every lousy day to do my best, as many of us here do.

Try your best to continue to put up with this crud of a person, if that is what you think he is. Changing trainers right now may not be the best of things, as the next trainer can be MORE harder on you as the first trainer may report to him about YOUR driving. Even the person or persons informing the new trainer, may report things to him, as heard from this guy now. You really DO NOT KNOW, many things he is saying about you, behind your back.

Wanna have more troubles, or less??

Stay put, keep quiet, do your job. Get into your own truck, ASAP.

It is a 3-month program so I'm 2/3 of the way complete. However, I scratch gears, I cut the occasional corner too short or too wide, I miss gears at times, and some days I even come to a dead stop on mountain roads when I miss the shifts at crawling speeds and have to start over in 1st again. My biggest problem is smoothly dumping gears from 7th down to 2nd while speeding up to stop signs or tight turns. Other instructors say I'm fine and will be good-to-go in a couple weeks, but they aren't my instructor. Like you said, he tells you that the real world won't give you a second chance for such mistakes so...

Now youre getting a real picture as to what happens out there, i bet youre going to be a better driver once he turns you loose on the big road all by yourself.
