I listened to a bunch of Patrice clips last week , one of the most underrated comedians in my opinion. Almost anything Burr does is funny , his election night highlights still have me rolling.

Let's start at the beginning, long before man.... sorry, too far back...

The advent of the smartphone. Do you have one? (you can also use a computer to transfer Podcasts to removable media like USB devices)

Smartphones have 'Apps' (Applications - generally shortcuts to a destination, games, or other types of software & functionality features).

You'll need an App if you're listening / downloading to your phone. I use CastBox.

Once in you can subscribe, listen or download (to save to your phone so it doesn't eat up data on the road).

A small bit of what I'm listening to:

So basically its prerecorded radio and tv playing on the internet. Yes I have a smart phone. I have a note 5 i had a note 8, but traded down with my son. Cause you cant remove the battery on the 8 (so you cant drop off the radar or stop being tracked) anyway thanks for the lesson. Think I will stick to Sirius xm for li e radio. By I do like your taste of programming

I am quite familiar with Mr Burr, I've seen him 9 of the last 10 times he's been in Denver.

A podcast is a recorded audio or video program. You know how YouTube is video programs you can watch? A podcast is typically an audio program you can listen to. But, unlike a regular or satellite radio program, which you listen when THEY air it. A podcast is sitting there waiting for you to listen whenever it's convenient.

If you have satellite or cable tv, they have On Demand programs. So instead of waiting until Thursday night at 8pm and then watching the program as it's broadcast, anytiime you want click on the OnDemand section, find the show you want to watch and press play.

Almost all of the podcasts I listen to every week are actual radio shows I could have heard over the radio when they were broadcast, if I was near a radio station brodcasting the show. I get podcasts so I can listen to what shows I want when I want and pause them or skip them if I prefer.

Podcasts don't need to be created by giant corporations. Many of the best ones are created by one person about a subject they really want to talk about. A lot of stand-up comedians produce their own podcasts. I like Bill Burr's podcast. Whether you are interested in sports, one sports team, business, economics, history, insects, finance, cooking, travel, video games, or anything else there are podcasts for you.

I refuse to listen to Patrice O'Neal other than his clips on Opie and Anthony. He was so funny, I don't want to chance it that he wasn't that good as a stand up comedian (strange logic, I know). First time I heard Patrice, was when O and A were playing the Mel Gibson Tapes. It was a tragedy he died so young.

I watched his Stand up special And I was laughing so hard ! It's a must see or listen , I'm still going through random clips of him from O&A that are classic. To young indeed.

    @tscottme said it quite well.

There really is a podcast out there for everyone. At lest if you have a pulse and a subject your interested in. They range from Sports(Fantasy, Us Pro, Foreign, UFC, Wrestling, etc etc), News, History(some very good ones), Ufo's, monsters, food, travel, trucking, many other professions, sewing, knitting, various other hobbies, etc.

I agree with some of the best podcasts are put out by "normal" people with no major backing an just a love for a subject/interest. A lot of the corporate ones annoy me. To many ads, and the like. One of the things like best about podcasts is the lack of ads/commercials. The ones I listen to break it up over the course of the podcast. I prefer long podcasts though. So it's easier for them to do it once an hour or so for a minute or two. I can deal with that. The ones that have ads like a normal radio show I don't have the patience for normally.

An ANYONE can do a podcast, and from just about anywhere. All one needs is a mic, a computer of some sort(Desktop, laptop, tablet, whatever), and a mic. Editing software would be a good thing also. Very cheap and easy to get into/started.

I love me some podcasts but like most things...you may have to sample a bunch before you find some that interest you.

An for those who were chatting with me about Hardcore History above.. I'm still enjoying the Dan Carlin. ;) Thanks again.

Sirscrapntruckalot - Whoop! There it is!

What I really like about Patrice, was he was a comedian that was black vs. a black comedian. He wasn't doing the usual Def Comedy Jam type of material. I don't think there was a comedian who told stories as good as Patrice did.
