You can't possibly expect a driver to just hold a steering wheel for 11 hours with no communication with the world...they would have to start doing mental stability checks for medical cards

You know we didn't always have cell phones. Most of us, get this, drove and listened to the radio. Novel idea in 2014 I know.

The rule is broken every day by most drivers. It's really not a big deal.

If payphones were brought back, a lot of cell phone usage would probably go way down.

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

Yep no handsfree while driving, against company policy. If you were to get into an accident, they would pull your cell records, and if they could prove you were on a bluetooth they would tell the other party you were not in compliance with company policy. Cover thier ***. When I drove for them everyone had a blutooth on, just don't call fm while moving.

Look at it this way: if you were working in an office or a factory would you be allowed to slow personal calls while on the clock? During breaks, sure but when you're working not a chance. While you're driveijg you're on the companys dime so they have a say in your actions.

Personally I don't have an issue with the rule. I have yet to hear of a study where trying to do two active tasks at the same time doesn't degrade the quality of both.

The difference between talking on a cell and in person is rant when.both people are in Tue same environment then they will both react to the environment. When on the phone the person on the other end has no idea what's going on ahead of you and will continue to blather about Bieber marrying a Kardashian with Phil Roberston officiating the ceremony. If there's a sudden break check up ahead while you're talking to someone with you in the truck they're going to shut the heck up while you handle your business.

Uhm yes, if you are in an office job you can take personal calls. I was a Project Manager before driving and got a cdl we hen the economy went sour. If your in a production setting, sure because you would have to leave your post to talk. That's not the case with a truck. And I think most Drivers are smart enough to know when they can talk and ehen they can not do so safely. If I'm going down the interstate I feel it is fine to talk to my kids and tell them goodnight. If I am driving in downtown usa, I don't.
