The current policy is the first time you are caught using your phone while driving is that you will be brought in for training and a talk with your DBL. They will put you on a Commitment to Excellence plan. The second time you are caught on your phone you are terminated.

If you are on the yard, they will chase you down and take you inside for a chat with the Safety Manager.

This is also coming to SNI in the very near future.

They can see inside the trucks when you come in the gates, and they will bust you for being on the phone, not wearing your seat belt. They do run surveillance on drivers. They will follow trucks in cars looking for them to be "doing the right thing."

They have fired several drivers for using a bluetooth at the terminal. They are enforcing many of the rules nowadays. They also check your feet anytime they see you.

Company policy says that anytime you exit your truck you must be wearing company approved footwear. Off duty or otherwise. If you have a slip and fall accident while not wearing your footwear they will deny your work comp claim.

Is it OK to use a headset around the OC's as long as you aren't driving the truck? I never use mine while driving anyway, but I do have one that I use for those 30 minute sitting on hold with support shift sessions so I can get out and walk around the truck, make something to eat, etc. Will someone throw a fit if they see me using mine at the OC even if I'm not moving in my truck?

As long as you are not driving they will not say a word. Although, a OSR approached a guy on my account this week for being on his blue tooth inside the operating center, said he could not be on it because he was setting a bad example for the new drivers.

Here is why I stay with them, I am on a choice program which means I personally select all my freight from thier load board. I make a darn good living, never leave the state of Texas and spend 3-4 nights every week at home. How the heck is asking you not to make phone calls inhuman? Do you understand how silly that sounds to alot of people working in thier various jobs, Just think about how silly that sounds to a soldier stationed over seas.
