I enjoy working here. It's laid back and that's right for my life right now. Pay is good, miles are good, and there's not any drama. I am considering buying my own truck being an o/o and leasing it out to them. It's been a really good experience for me so far. I like seeing the country and having my dog with me.

    to the OP
you need to stay doing what your doing until you figure your next move
I know as a team operation you dont interact with other segments of our industry
everyone finds a niche they fit in
i am blessed not to have to team or drive doubles or local or even regional
    just not my style
you look around here long enough you will see something you want to try

With 1 yr. you may find it hard to land a GOOD tanker job. There are tanker jobs that are more mega like companies though. I know a guy that rolled 3 milk wagons in under 2 yrs with the same company before they no longer needed his services. I presume due to they ran out of trucks..lol

Ive never pulled a tanker OTR or for long distance but I have hauled hundreds of swinging meat loads which is just as dangerous if not more so depending who you ask. My advice would be to find an old timer thats done it for years and friend him and have him teach you with an open mind. I was fortunate to have Boots take me under his wing and still today I thank that 5'3 80yr old man in a big o cowboy hat with a big grin for keeping my butt alive

so far I've found out you won't do a lease purchase, and after that last comment, I'm not worried about you one bit. Sounds like you got a good head on your shoulders.

ODFL is old dominion freight lines. LTL carrier worth checking into.
