rear breaks smell

First I would get back in touch with the people that did the job to see what they have to say. Or at least the nearest shop to have them take a look see at them. Over heated brakes will lead to bigger problems like no brakes and/or fire.

Not knowing the inner working of truck air brakes all that well my guess is they are adjusted up too tight or not enough air PSI to release the spring brakes so they are dragging heating up and you get the smell.

All depends on if they put new brake drums on at same time as they put the brake shoes on, if drums were not replaced the new brake shoes are only touching the drum in a small area and are burning down to where they will touch the entire brake drum.

 

Compleatlly normal. New shoes will stink to high heaven first few hard brake applications. New shoes and drums will not only stink but smoke like crazy also. Normal. Just the paint burning off the drums. Bear in mind the smoke thing will only happen on the first couple hard brake applications. The stink can linger for months with new shoes bedding in.

 

New brake shoes always smell hot for a while...
