Just like on your consumer report you can have legitimate stuff placed on your report. If you have employment history that you want put on your report you will need to gather the information and send to USIS and tell them to put that information on your report. I agree with roadkill that can help and hurt you. But no company should be relying solely on USIS for their information. They should be verifying your application themselves. Gather your evidence that you were employed and type up a letter and request that USIS put that in your employment file. REMEMBER USIS (DAC) is a consumer reporting agency. They are governed by the FAIR CREDIT REPORTING ACT.

I didn't realize how horrible of a service DAC is until last week. I tried to get a job working for my cousin driving a tri-axle. His insurance carrier ran my DAC file and reported that there were "numerous accidents" listed on it and thus refused to carry me. Now I knew I had one accident for sure which was a non-preventable but is considered "major" because of the hazmat situation involved. This alone made them cautious but they stated that the the other "multiple accidents" were enough to make me high risk. Now in the seven months I drove for USX I had only one other accident in which I had damage to the tractor, it was minor and only the tractor was involved. It was an incident in which the nose of the trailer bent an air fin on the tractor putting the trailer into a hole it never should have been it but had to be so I could drop the load. An incident was filed and a number was assigned to it, same with the non-preventable. These are the only two accidents I had while there. I've sent for my free copy, now I know why I've had no callbacks from any other carriers(including Swift and SNI). Also send for anything that you are entitled to when you request the form, I sent for all of it, the criminal, the D&A report, and anything else I thought they would give me. DAC is a joke and these companies take it too seriously, the only thing that should ever be on a DAC file is preventable accidents in which you severely damaged or destroyed property.

Make sure you make them clear it up if you have the proof.

2 accidents while at USX in only 7 months and you are surprised a insurance carrier won't cover you?
Sorry, but you have the wrong attitude when it comes to driving someone else's truck that they pay the repair bills for , not you. -
I didn't mean for that to come out the wrong way the accident I had while backing was an accident and yes I admitted to it, I used the term "incident" to describe the accident. It was an unfortunate incident and a hard learned lesson.
As for the the comment of the DAC be taken too seriously I do believe it is, there are a lot of drivers who get screwed by companies who place stuff on there every day of the week and for some of those drivers it's something that was maybe a minor thing like a tire blowout once in seven years and when they go for a new job they're screwed because the new company sees a black mark on the DAC and they don't care what the incident is.
My accident should be on my DAC I'll be the first to admit that, things like a tire blowout shouldn't be granted it's the only incident you have. Sorry if I offended or came off like a fool I guess I wasn't too clear on what I was saying.
I'm not surprised by the insurance company's ruling I'm just wondering what's on my DAC. I didn't know and therefore it made me look bad as a perspective employee, I was using my misfortune to stress the importance of knowing what's on your DAC so that maybe the same fate isn't met by others.
The only reason anything about accidents was even brought to the post was because I was told there were "multiple incidents" listed and I only had two "incidents" while employed there, which means there is most likely things on there that are false on there. I was told that there were a bunch of accidents on there besides the non-preventable I had, in my terms that means there is more than one other accident which would be false which is the reason I was trying to stress of importance of knowing what is on your DAC report. -
Different company's have different criteria for reporting what they consider be minor or major accidents to DAC. It is the onus of the driver to know what the company they hire on to consider a accident , what they consider a incident, and how it will reported to DAC.
OTR driving is not like going and getting a job in the real world. There is much more you need to know then how much you are paid, what you will drive and how long you will be out. The more questions you ask before and during orientation, the less you will be in the dark.
I worked for USX for many years and your status as a solo or team driver could determine what happened to you or how it was reported to DAC after a accident or incident.
A solo could dent a fender and get fired. While a team driver could smash the front of the truck in and be seated in another truck and slapped around a bit. If they need more drivers because the freight was good they might let you off with a warning and if freight was bad they might suspend you or fire you.
Once a claims number was assigned it would either be determined a preventable or non preventable accident or incident. If you are parked between to white lines and got hit, it would be non-preventable if not, it was usually your fault unless you had witnesses.
Just because you did not get cited by the police did not mean you were not at fault. The company's have different standards that they subscribe to that has nothing to do with the law. And all to do with what is in there best interest. You have to understand how each company you work for operates because they do not have standardized criteria even when they claim they do.
The bottom line is that you might not think you had several accidents at USX, but if you do not know what THEY consider a accident, not you, then how do you know? -

I'm finding out what is on my DAC right now. HireRight has a place now to "Make a DAC Report on a Company" and once I find why trucking companies I've applied with (by phone or mail or internet) never contact me back after I give them my SSN I might make use of that feature. I'll let you all know what is going on in a fresh post. Unfortunate that DAC and trucking companies have so much power over the driver, to destroy their lives if they don't like you.

I dropped a trailer at a stop sign. I ripped the service line. Do you think the YRCW reported this to DAC? I didn't get a ticket or anything like that, just a dumb rookie move.
