It's the result of room temperature IQ's that can only process point A to point B. There are too many of them and too much poor training for it ever go away. The most likely result is we will all get governed at one speed or we will be limited to only the right lane without exceptions except emergency vehicles on the shoulder. Eventually, the professional drivers will get so fed up with it that they move to local work, retirement, or another career.

It's even worse running overnight. Factoring in drivers running high beams, drivers veering out of their lane, drivers camping the left lane, and drivers stopped on/pulling off the shoulder for absolutely no reason, I'd say it's 80/20 for degenerates versus professionals. Pretty scary to think about and I'm surprised there aren't way more fatalities than there already are.

I would guess one of two things is happening. ALSMOT every truck for big trucking companies has a speed limiter operating. The vast majority of companies are limiting truck speed to 63-70 mph. A 65 MPH truck passing a 64 or 63 mph truck will take some time to pass on level ground. If there are even slight hills or the trucks are close in gross weight, etc this can prolong the pass being completed. Flashing your lights is NOT going to help you. It's like flipping the bird before you ask someone a question. If they weren't trying to be an obstacle before they will almost certainly be one now.

Truck driving is a very very stressful and angering job for many drivers. Some drivers get angry enough at the very dangerous and careless driving by others they decide to punish others by just blocking the road. Car drivers without thinking will EVERY day swerve in front of a heavy truck and slam on their brakes. EVERY DAY, and almost every driver in a car will do this daily. At some point some truck drivers decide they will assert their frustration with car drivers and do things like blocking a lane or slowly, if ever, passing another truck.

The industry is putting very inexperienced drivers in seats these days and their training is lacking to say the least. Everything bad in the industry is happening more often and becoming almost standard operating procedure. These are my best guesses.

Agreed, but nobody was calling it Utopia back then. It was called the same terrible things we call this age, even though it was much much better.

Have you ever seen some of those Indo-Stani driver's driving styles? Camp out in the lane, text home while cooking food on a grill, all while driving.....

The quality of driver has gone downhill over the last five years. An influx of foreign drivers from countries such as Somali, Haiti, Russia, India, Ukraine etc hasn’t helped. The majority of the old hands that respected the rules of the road have retired or left the industry do to over burdensome government regulations.

We see it everyday ourselves, and it’s frustrating.

So, back in the 80's, I:
    1) Drove a leaf-sprung single-wide Int 9670 with a Spicer short-throw 7sp hooked to a 300hp Big Cam Cummins.
    2) I kept 2 log books so I could drive extra hours to make more money 'cause they only paid me $0.17/mile.
    3) Lot lizards were in every rest area.
    4) Hand unloads only paid $45 for an entire trailer.
    5) You got paid by Comcheks.
    6) If you wanted to call home, you had to use a long-distance calling card.
    7) I got shot-at by a striking Teamster once in Ohio.
So, no, I really don't miss the 80's
