It used to be in the old days when commercial drivers did stupid things they would take your license from you, not any more. In fact, you can kill a busload of hockey players with your careless truck driving and the Canadian Police will just let you go home.

Hahahaha when the desire for an egg Mcmuffin is too great to ignore....but that stuff happens in America too. This past winter, a Prime driver did something similar in Pennsylvania. He wasn't bobtailing I don't think. He was high on some drugs

You don't seem to understand the legal process in Canada. Had they put him in jail, they would have had to press charges. Without recreating the crash scene and PROVING what happened, they wouldn't have been able to make the charges stick.

He is now facing justice and could spend the rest of his life in prison.

As obvious as it was that the driver in the Humboldt tragedy screwed up the judicial system needs to go through its due process. I'd rather see a thorough and proper investigation done before appropriate charges are laid against the accused.

As for the video: WTF? Over.

There should be drive thru's for trucks though. Who wants to build one?

I don't handle people who get killed by the dozen by a big truck gone wild for whatever reason. These mass killings is a real liability to my thinking that truckers should be very good at what they do. It makes me hurt actually.

I once came over one of the hills prior to the Havre-de-grace bridge on 95 decades ago on 95 full steam ahead finishing the momentum pull at slightly over speed limit loaded. (Don't ask what I was at at the bottom of that one at 115,000 gross for Philadelphia docks container) The weight of the load allowed me to run the hill like it was flat.

One of the biggest problems with that specific part of Maryland between say Downtown 895 split all the way to Havre-de-grace particularly in the 4 or 5 lane wide sections) when everyone is all 5 feet apart in the cars during rush hour together in a giant packed herd wall to wall at 80+ if one screwed something and slams the brakes. ALL 4 or 5 lanes will at the same time SLAM their brakes and stop right there in a few moments.

That happened as I steamed over the hill and was presented with all lanes sitting still and already lost the space I needed to make a proper stop. (Hundreds of feet, dry pavement)

I made the stop. It was extreme, violent and one of the few times I locked everything up pulling spring brakes etc When I stopped I was in a partial jack knife having decided to put the whole thing into the middle grass instead of hitting anyone. Trailer did not like that idea and started shoving on my little tractor. (Too much mass going forward in a straight line)

Opened the door and stepped out of my tractor down onto a fender, pulled out the good shop towel and made a show of wiping the fender nicely. And the windshield and the mirriors and so on. There were three to 5 children in the back of that particular wagon. I don't know their names from adam but with all those cars around Im happy I got stopped. If I didnt, I would be in prision somewhere there for vehicular manslaugther and a bunch of other things.

To this day I don't know why the bridge traffic stopped dead like that stranding all of us on that hilltop. But as far as I know no one got hurt. Mostly a little tire damage and a bunch of shaken down pallets that needs restacking on the container end. (The whole thing was dropped off, goes onto ship heading out from one of the ports there, likely chester)

Things like that in my own experience is easier to remember when I learn about a dozen or two of people being killed by a big truck in a bus or wherever. I think my response to that stressor is to let the courts deal with Justice, the families can do civil suits 4 ways from sunday for years and the Law can do what needs to do to freeze the actual accident and process it for the Court.

Some of you talked about truckers killing people but allowed to go home. I don't know about you but if a trucker did deliberately or stupidly kill people, they will not be going home a while. That will be decided depending on charges if any.

Those stalled vehicles sure jump out at you:
Shocking footage shows vehicle smashing into truck on Highway 401—and everyone survived

I saw a couple guys trying to change a flat tire on a pickup out here yesterday. 4 lanes going 1 way and he's stopped in the 2nd lane from the right. I guess his custom $400 rim is worth more than his and everyone else's safety . Saw him with plenty of time to make a safe lane change around him but about 3 other vehicles just about smoked him.
