All in all, if I feel unsafe, I stop. I don't think they're willing to, or capable of, firing me. I've outlasted every employee they have by at least 2 years.

This is just a new job to me, so I didn't know what everyone else expects from their work.

If they really want to fight me when I decide how I am going to do this, I'll have a good laugh and, at the very least, a few clean months of driving and a firing for adhering to safety standards.

    To quote Jackie Gleason
Do you remember that scene in Smokey & The Bandit when Jackie Gleason shouts, " I WILL BAR-B-QUE YOUR ### IN MOLASSES."
That's pretty on point if you have an accident like that, and your not running legal.

Lol. They actually printed a job description page for me. Details the times they want it, what days, and when I'm expected to be back.

then it's going to be legal (for them). if another driver did it, why can't you is what you will be told if you make a fuss and they fire you.

    i wish you well.

    good luck.

    Thanks!
All in all, I'm the boss of what I do. Talking about this has helped me decide where to prioritize my efforts.

I don't sue people, I don't get even. I let them figure it out.

I'll just keep it nice and legal, and if they have a problem, well, hell, that can be their problem, not mine.

keep it legal, there are enough stresses out there and if something happens, guess who is left holding the bag?

Do it the legal way!! Your better off. If this is a new position, as time goes by you'd be able to show them where "the other drivers" who did it put there company at risk. May or may not make a difference but at least your safe.

Tell your company to do the math then ask for suggestions. You're doing your best dont let them intimidate you into speeding to get back on their time schedule .its not worth it.I would be going at my pace not the companies.one day you may get in an accident becaus all you have on your mind is gotta hurry up and get back .no company is worth the stress.

These are euphemistically called "coloring books" for a reason. If you can make the numbers work legally then do it. The only "flags" will be fuel stops or any time you pass a scale that records the date and time. If you have loose leaf log books then that makes the job easier.

One great thing about being on loose leaf log books is that it is much easier to take a REAL rest break, when you are tired, then drive again when you are fresh and alert.

listen... paper logs equal freedom, but with freedom comes responsibility and the associated stress and potential consequences... I was great at logbook "entries", but don't miss those days at all. Some get away with it for their whole careers, some pay the price.
