I'm not worried bout licensing. I'm talking torque ratings, bell housing size etc. I agree enough money anything can be fabricated. But why put a transmission out of a light duty truck(Chevrolet smallest model) behind a Benz diesel. Even a slug be hard on it.
Again not a jab. Before you even consider a deal like this you need to understand the industry and how your target audience needs the truck specced. I'm not saying you think there is a gold mine in trucking but many do. It's not a couple different sizes cover it. You mentioned 575 hp to get up a hill, that's groovy but on the edge of needing driven with care to keep the whole package together.

Risk & return. With the automatic for a license test- managing my risks were a walk in park. However with a manual transmission, there's a lot to worry about. People panic and I need a dumb downed transmission. So this transmission makes it stupid easy. First gear maybe 3 mph, 2nd gear 8 mph, 3rd gets you up to maybe 12 or 13 mph. 4th gear just over 20 mph. 5th gear gets you around 33 mph and 6th gear gets you to 45 mph. Shifts gears as smooth as a baby's butt. The reason why I went over and beyond is so that I don't have to train. If I just rent, then I avoid all the dumb laws of being a school.

Same here. And is my current dilemma with my 359. I want it right 100% perfect...not good enough!
Edit: i just finished reading all the post in this thread. A manual transmission out of an compact pick up was installed in a class 7 commercial truck.
Dude if you’re gonna lie to me, freaking tell me a lie i can believe. Smh
Putting a transmission from a diesel pick up truck in a class 8 truck with 575hp and 1850-2050 ft/lbs. yeah ok. Again smh.
I say pics or it never happened. Upload some pics, i’m dying to see them.
There is a lot of really good reply’s in this thread, anyone ever thinking about buying an old truck should def. read this thread 1st. Op thank you, thank you very much. When i read the s-10 transmission line i fell out my seat i was laughing so hard.Last edited: Dec 30, 2018

Yes, effective laws in July 1 2015 they added restrictions to your license. This was at a Federal level, not just State. So I took an automatic from my M2 Business Class and put in a synchronized 6 speed from a pick up truck. It's convenient for you to call me a liar, but PM me and you can visit my daily operations. Don't appreciate you calling me a liar and would love to see you call me one to my face.

Did Chevy S10s come with 6 speeds? Why would you choose a trans that came in a mid size truck behind a V6? Why wouldn’t you choose a transmission from a diesel truck such as a NV5600? Not calling you a liar, just trying to wrap my head around your reasoning. The M2 business class Mercedes doesn’t make much power, so I can see a 6 speed surviving behind it.

Am I being trolled? You are repeating my same answer above. It's for a license test. Not hauling weight.
-
You only used it to pass the test for the license?
-
Correct
