When I had mine out I tuned the input shaft by hand in OD and then direct and you could definitely feel how much harder it is to turn in OD. That's true what they say about better mpg running in direct vs OD.

at least now you know exactly what you have.Cetane+ Thanks this. -
How much was the rebuild kit?
I take it you had to but some new gears also, how much extra were those?
What kind of time did it take to rebuild just the case? -
I used all fuller parts. The basic overhaul kit was $600. The gears I needed were $890 shipped. It took about 8 hours total. It took me longer because that was not the only thing I was doing at that time. You need a 25ton+ press to press the first three gears off of the counter shafts together. I detail cleaned every part I could. The part that let me down was the "Made in China" stamped on the bearings in the genuine Fuller rebuild kit. Next time it will cost half the price when I use aftermarket parts form China without the "fuller" price tag.

I ran a bunch of 9 and 10 speed Meritors and I liked them better than the Eatons to drive, until I got this one with a DD15 in front of it.
I got a remanned Eaton in a previous truck when a cooling line rubbed through and ate it up inside. The Meritor reman was a better rebuild,IMO, although it was very tight when I first got it back.Cetane+ Thanks this. -
