Then you nor your company are maximizing your available hours. if you work 12 hrs a day for 5 days and 10 on the 6th that's 70 hrs.
If you use mon to sat for example you should finish by 6pm on sat and start a 4am mon rinse and repeat.
Again if you use the 8 day cycle you lose over 400 hrs of productivity in a year.
And that 400 hrs is time the company is not paying you for that you are living on the road.

I don't need to be paid for every minute I am living on the road.
What I do need is a stable job that gives me the money and time that I like and/or need.

Everyone is different, but for me getting 'home' is just a visit with family every month or so for a few days.
My real home is the truck.

I don't have to bust my butt to get that. I can work 8 or 9 hours a day, sometimes more or less, and do just fine for both me and my company.
After nearly 7 years with the same company I can feel pretty confident that we are both happy with my productivity and way of doing things.

But I am different than most truckers/people in that ever more money is not my goal.
Never has been, and never will be.

And 'maximizing my hours' runs both ways for me.
Getting the most miles for the hours while on duty, and getting the most down time that I can so I can relax and enjoy myself.
That is 'my' version of the trucker lifestyle.
